South End Infill and Small Developments

Their building is around 76000sf. Theres got to be an abandoned big box store around the area they could move into. Really, I don't see why they couldn't move into the basement of whatever new development goes in there. It's not like they need windows.

As for the biolab, I was under the impression that if something did go wrong there, most of the city would be in trouble a'la the Umbrella Corp mishap.

Didja read the article? They have dozens of trucks making deliveries in the middle of the night in preparation for 5 am opening time... methinks the neighbors upstairs wouldn't like that. Plus their building's exterior looks to be about 50% loading docks so they're not going to be slipping into any old 10,000 s.f. retail bay -- they need a proper shipping and distribution facility.

I would think there are plenty of locations this could move to. I'm sure several landlords have already called offering their space.

If memory serves, buyers at 27 Wareham and the 1850 lofts had to sign agreements saying they understood that the Flower Exchange was across the street and that they realized there would be industrial uses there, meaning trucks driving in and out during the early morning hours.

I agree that lack of public transportation on the street is a drawback. Yes, Washington Street is nearby, but if I lived there, I'd still feel it was far away.

Of course, now that I live in the Seaport, I have to suffer through using the Silver Line bus at the World Trade Center or walk to South Station (16 minutes).

This parcel might also go commercial or to BU. My guess however would be residential.

Lol, Umbrella Corp. Would be just another day in Raccoon City.

Globe article on the Church of Scientology not having enough money to restore the Alexandria hotel.

Photo probably circa 1890-1900

Take a close look at the bottom of the photo and you can narrow that estimate considerably :)

Off topic slightly but... not a single leaf on any of those trees on October 30? Climate change, man...

From the article:

So neighbors cheered when in 2008 the Church of Scientology of Boston bought the once-grand five-story wreck for its new headquarters

Yay a cult is moving in next door! Woooooooo! But at least we'll get that purty building back to normal.

Kifflom brother brother!

Last I heard they were going to save the two outside walls and tear down the rest of the building. At least two of the three retail bays would be church orientated, cafe and bookstore. My facts might be out of date, moved out of the neighborhood 10 months ago.

The Scientologists are having money problems?

That's got to be one mismanaged Boston chapter they're running nowadays. They didn't have any problem livin' large in the Back Bay 10 years ago.

The owner of the building at the coner of Union Park and Shawmut is looking to renovate the building and tear down the adjacent delapitated garage and build a 3 condo addition with 'soft' retail, no restaurant, on the first floor. This is the building with the Union Park Laudry.

Hmmmmmm. Paul, where did you hear of this? Anything in print? Are you familiar with the owner? There's a story there!

^LOL btw in every photo I see of this building it looks like a rendering.

What the actual fuck is that?

Edit: It looks like there will be stuff planted in front of that may be ok
