I still like it but it really needed to be at least either 30% narrower or 30% taller.

I still like it but it really needed to be at least either 30% narrower or 30% taller.

Especially from the vantage of coming into the city from the north. Just looks incredible wide and squat. Pretty much the only bad angle I've found though.

I guess One Congress "officially" opened today.

The Boston Business Journal has a slideshow of the (pretty big-looking) club or whatever it is that the captions say is for workers in the building to use: https://www.bizjournals.com/boston/news/2023/09/14/state-street-boston-office-headquarters.html

B&T has some additional detail on the garage demolition: https://bankerandtradesman.com/amenities-take-center-stage-in-bostons-newest-office-tower/

O’Brien now estimates that construction crews should be able to finish removing what’s now the highest remaining part of the garage when the MBTA shuts down its Haymarket station for 25 days starting Sept. 18: five concrete beams that loom over the former Haymarket busway and John F. Fitzgerald Surface Road.

Theoretically all of the garage would be done by March, but no ETA on the other buildings.

One Congress Officially Opens 100% Pre-Leased and Marks the Largest New Office Delivery in Boston This Year

“BOSTON-Carr Properties, National Real Estate Advisors and The HYM Investment Group, LLC celebrated the grand opening on Thursday of One Congress, Boston’s newest trophy office tower and the largest new office project delivered in Boston in 2023.

Developed through a visionary partnership between Carr, National and HYM, the six-hundred-foot tower delivers one million square feet of office space to downtown Boston.

One Congress delivers fully leased, after securing two of the largest office leases in Boston within the last 20 years. State Street Bank, the Fortune 500 financial firm, will occupy 510,000 square feet and leading technology firm InterSystems will occupy 420,000 square feet. Other customers at One Congress include K&L Gates, a leading law firm, Trillium Asset Management, and Husch Blackwell. One Congress exemplifies the flight-to-quality office by major corporations as the building delivers 100% pre-leased…”

I recall reading earlier in this thread that the building would not get an occupancy permit until the garage was gone. Has this condition been waved?

This was never substantiated and was evidently never the case.

Well. Here's a couple photos I took the other day - it's really rather nice in there!!!
