The Alcott (née Garden Garage Towers) | 35 Lomasney Way | West End

Re: Garden Garage Towers (Basketball City) | 35 Lomasney Way | West End

This is great its really going to bring out a dead spot in the skyline when this, north station, and td garden towers are built. The view from the Zakim will be enhanced greatly and you wont have as much of that feeling that the tunnel starts on the kind of out skirt of the city.

... also interested to see/ hoping that the 4 story multi-family across the street still stands following all of this construction and possibly even turns itself outward through a bar/restaurant space on the ground floor (with supporting outdoor space?) - It could serve as a local landmark/ another funky piece of urban history in Boston's many stratified layers.

I actually think it's probably time to consider removing that building... it's a cool historic structure but it's also not the optimal use of land right there. If something could be built right there, in between this and Avalon North then this could be a really interesting area.

The West End towers-in-the-park is practically unfixable at this point. So let's embrace it for what is - greenspace that a lot of new density will find particularly useful.

That little tenement really has to stay right where it is. That is a monument to the abuse of governmental power and urban renewal. It needs to serve as a reminder to all of what unbridled governmental ambition can do and how it can destroy communities.

Let's not allow for added density because the government destroyed density. Logic

If we can have AvalonBay next to Jacob Wirth's we can build around this too.

Ok I see. That is what I want for this also but not just around it but including it. Basically keeping it and building around and over it not a facadectomy.

In many ways the tenement could be framed even better to emphasize your point.

Love how skinny this tower looks.

I was going to suggest turning that parcel into a park with the "Museum of Urban Renewal" or some such as a centerpiece, but I like this idea even better, build a building that cantilevers over it to emphasize the message that density is good.

FWIW, it'll be tough to get 465' past the neighbors as it is. It would be impossible without the added parkland.

Re: Garden Garage Towers (Basketball City) | 35 Lomasney Way | West End

It looks like another tower (along with The Clarendon) that would fit in very well in Rotterdam.

Re: Garden Garage Towers (Basketball City) | 35 Lomasney Way | West End

The tower itself is great. Ground floor leaves some to be desired, but overall a great vertical tower with a tiny footprint. The tower alone would be welcome into the Back Bay, DTX, etc. without the gigantic park at the bottom.

Is the tower on the left supposed to be the Nashua Street Residences?

Re: Garden Garage Towers (Basketball City) | 35 Lomasney Way | West End

It certainly looks like it but it almost looks like it was turned around from the previous renders I've seen. I wouldn't mind the glass facing the 93 way for a change.

Also hypothetically could we have this project (including Nashua St) M Tower, Dalton, and Copley Place all have cranes at some stage simultaneously. Imagine the buzz in the city.. Dare we say display them all in a 2024 Olympics to showcase all those new spires?

Re: Garden Garage Towers (Basketball City) | 35 Lomasney Way | West End

yes

Re: Garden Garage Towers (Basketball City) | 35 Lomasney Way | West End

Since I expect the West End residents to fight this like they did the original proposal, I really hope to see Walsh go to bat for the developer here, and stand up against the residents, as these types of projects will go a long way towards his big goal.

Re: Garden Garage Towers (Basketball City) | 35 Lomasney Way | West End

My guess is that the west end residents had a lot to do with the new plans.

Re: Garden Garage Towers (Basketball City) | 35 Lomasney Way | West End

This is the type of spot where if you want 3x as much parkland as you want development, fine you can have it. We're putting a 900ft tower here.

Re: Garden Garage Towers (Basketball City) | 35 Lomasney Way | West End

Then hopefully in a few years another tower rises where the second one should have been at 400+ feet, and Walsh or whomever the Mayor is then tells the West Enders to Cram it with walnuts ugly!

Not to get off topic, but I disagree. It should remain as an eternal testament to what the West End was, and what urban renewal did. There's a lot of build-able land right around here - the Nashua street lots, Bulfinch Triangle infill, not to mention the lots/parks/low-rise buildings of the West End. We could even get creative and build over the North Station tracks.
