The New Retail Thread

?

I can't imagine where Berklee'd move the bookstore to, they're so short on space as it is.

The building next door, the old piano store, if the plan from late fall's taskforce meeting is still what they're working from. Something also about a sidewalk to match the one like Looney Tunes.

The first image... is that the City Convenience on Mass Ave by Comm Ave? And what did those little signs in the door say?

OK ... so what burned between the bank and the burrito place?

It used to be part of store 24, but when Qdoba came in the store was divided in two. The boarded area has space for a tiny store and the stairs to the former gym.

Boloco's web site lists three locations in the financial district; perhaps one of them is a replacement for Water Street?

50 Congress St
133 Federal St
125 Pearl St

I can't see there really being demand for four of these downtown, even in a prosperous economy.

Signs the workers are brown bagging it?

There was always something ridiculous about the entire retail sector of the Financial District relying on quick, upscale lunches.

The Water Street Boloco was turned into their corporate catering center at the same time the 50 Congress St location opened.

Upper Crust is opening a new branch in 1330 Boylston building, fyi.

They're expanding fast.

Meanwhile, the Crate & Barrel Store in the Harvard Square building everyone loves so much remains empty - but someone did manage to hang a tasteful question mark inside...

Also, it appears Pizza Republic in Coolidge Corner has closed.

Lease was up on the Water Street location. I was speaking to a manager of another Souper Salad location and he indicated that the numbers weren't there and he confirmed my suspicion that the staff there wasn't the most dilligent of their locations.
