Worcester Kelley Square

First time seeing the Kelley Sq peanut in action. Not really a fan, and sadly does not seem to be well-maintained--it looks like one of the HAWK signals has already been run over and not replaced? If drivers are running over your signal posts that's not a good sign that you've designed a good intersection.

Speeds seemed higher than the old Kelley Sq as well, which makes sense as people can just go on mental autopilot here now.

Finally, I wish the city were better about the trash problem. Used to live here but had forgotten how dirty it is compared to Boston, just in terms of street litter and trash everywhere. It's a bummer.

They replace those signs regularly actually. They just keep being hit. So maintained? Yes, designed well? No

That intersection was / is a colossal mess. I think the only way to have made it functional would require the elimination / re-routing of connecting streets. I will admit that the new design is an improvement but still a challenge.

The biggest issue is because it is not a traditional roundabout shape, everyone in the peanut keep yeilding to those coming in from Vernon Street and causing a jam when they are in the roundabout and should just go

The state/city is in the process of finalizing a similar "peanut" rotary at the Queen City/South Willow Street intersection in Manchester, NH. I think it will be challenging at first for drivers, but once familiarity and routine are established the funky intersection stalled traffic becomes a constant caravan of cars!

Trust me, Worcester drivers still have not figured out the peanut almost 3 years later

I have driven through the intersection during light and heavy traffic (post baseball game). Light traffic is a breeze, heavy traffic can be a challenge but to make the above assertion is ridiculous. No, I won't trust you

I've been through a few times now and it's far from great but it's a huge upgrade. The old Kelly Square was just that bad. It doesn't have the same sort of chaotic and unpredictable feel anymore. Again, not great, but better.

Idk, the chaos felt somewhat safer to me living there? Because it was so unpredictable and chaotic people generally drove pretty cautiously through that area, at least in my experience.

Possibly, it was terrifying before had to tondrove very strategically and defensively. It's accident rate was quite impressively high though, as we're pedestrian strikes.
