Yotel Hotel | SPSQ parcel J | 65 Seaport Blvd | South Boston Waterfront

The back of this is so horrid I want to clutch my pearls in shock. Front isnt hot either, maybe it will look better with purple accent lighting at night

Someone needs to take a picture down one of the fort point streets with this at the end and see if the brick really helps it blend with the area or if it just sticks out either way. The bottom picture above is close but half the building is blocked by a gerbil tube. It still does appear to even though the brick is noticeably "redder" than the older stock. Hopefully that dulls over time.

That alley with the bridge is where the Chief played by Martin Sheen gets 'de-parted' after getting sold out by Matt Damon in the Departed..... (If the Chief had gotten whacked today, he'd be forced to view some very poor architecture on the trip down).

That last shot is spectacular. The composition, texture, and light--just really well done.

The front side is nicely composed and textured (although stick on brick is a dubious investment).

The back side is a complete and total mess. It would have been better and cheaper for them to just have done the same thing on the backside. There must have been some weird pressure from outside the project for that to happen. Maybe to appease the neighborhood?

Bingo

The Fort Point Landmarks Commission has a lot of say what is going on in the neighborhood. Having been through the process with them, it was most likely a concession to appease them.

On the big ugly white space on the top center of the building facing Seaport Blvd., do you guys think there will be a larger "Yotel" sign placed there? It looks like of blank.

...I think it's going to be left blank

Trivia question:

Is this the facade of a commercial-grade property in the city of Boston...or is this the side of my aunt's house in the suburbs?

More like a distribution center off of route 128.

(Industrial face fastened corrugated metal, and commercial grade windows built by a residential window manufacturer).
