Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

Emirates has been blanketing the city with ads for their flights. Some really nice looking ads too.

The Dubai flights are probably going to steal a good amount of India traffic from Lufthansa and British Airways.

I've only seen online ads, especially the Boston "selfie" contest, and have heard radio ads. Are there any billboards especially on 93 South or the Route 1A to Logan corridor?

Are there even strong ties to Milan in Boston? Who would serve it? Delta, Alitalia or one of the other Middle East Carriers as a 1-stop to their hub?

I think with Hong Kong and Seoul, the airlines that would make the best sense (Korean Air, Cathay Pacific) are waiting for the right aircraft to serve them fully-loaded non-stop.

Yea, there's a billboard on 93 right by Savin Hill. They've wrapped Red Line cars. There's signs in the city on those city map kiosks (not sure what to call them). Boston.com has had ads for the last several weeks.

Seems like a bigger advertising blitz than Copa.

I wonder if Hainan will advertise in any aspect since they may be more geared to serve Beijing originating passengers.

Things may be off to a good start for Hainan since they will run the flight daily from July 20th to August 31st.

The first Emirates flight arrived a few hours ago! Like a barrel of Gatorade on the head, but for an airplane.

"Commercial jets arriving at Logan don't usually get greeted by three helicopters and a smaller plane flying a banner, but Logan allowed an exception for the first Emirates Airline flight into Boston this afternoon."

I had been checking Logan's Twitter to see some pictures and was surprised they've yet to put some up.

Agree with most of those.. The only one that is maybe iffy is Bermuda since JetBlue and Delta are both on it. Delta does extremely well on the route too. Loads are better than their Atlanta flight!

I think the combined airline returns to Aruba for at least weekend service.

I would love to see a couple extra European routes in the summer.

Baby steps. I think an upgrade to a daily 777-300 would be a logical move if advanced bookings warrant a capacity upgrade.

I have several Indian friends and people who have to travel to India for work that are pretty excited about Emirates coming. They have a solid India network that allows for easier transit for some than going via Frankfurt on Lufthansa, or London on British Airways.

I was surprised to find this out yesterday when flying back from Savannah with a group of friends. Ten of the 11 of us were flying direct on Jet Blue, and the 11th was on US Airways, connecting through Charlotte. When he told me he was booked on an A330-200 from Charlotte to Boston, I didn't believe him until I confirmed it on Flight Aware.
 
Last night picking up a friend, I noticed that Alitalia has changed their evening departure from 5:30ish to 11pm. Any idea when this change took place? I'd be curious if it helps them at all.

Total Airport Passengers: 1,935,511 (up 3.0% over February 2013)
Total YTD Airport Passengers: 3,951,716 (up 1.4% over 2013)
Total International Passengers: 257,633 (up 7.1% over February 2013)
Total YTD International Passengers: 548,695 (up 4.0 % over 2013)
Total Domestic Passengers: 1,671,834 (up 2.4 % over February 2013)
Total Domestic Passengers YTD: 3,391,537 (up 1.0 % over 2013)

Loads for JAL's Tokyo flight: 141 passengers
Loads for Copa's Panama City flight: 96 passengers

Thanks for posting the updates. Can't wait for March with Emirates #'s

Not a bad showing by Copa. Would love to know what the top 5 connecting destinations are in Panama City.
 
Aer Lingus has shifted both the New York and Boston to Shannon routes to the contracted 757s. This will allow them to operate both routes year round whereas the A330 was too much plane even in the summer.
