Twenty Two Liberty @ Fan Pier | 22 Liberty Drive - Parcel C | Seaport

The crown is really bad. Did they splurge so much on the glass that they couldn't mask the mechanicals with a nicer screen?

All they had to do was make it a glass crown to match. Sad really because this was a great design that fell short because of materials. If this matched the renders it really would have been amazing, but we instead got this weird glass and a cheap crown.

Honestly, I think the glass is nice. I've gotten used to the contrast the dark tone provides with other Fan Pier buildings. The cheap-ass crown is what kills it for me.

I don't think we're out of the woods yet on the crown... I noticed bracing being set up the other day on the crown (please forgive me for the low quality pic)

Iv been waiting for a haha gotcha moment... This could be it. If they glass clad that crown I dont even care about the glass differing from the render this thing is a success and ill be 100% happy with it.

Joe Fallon himself is going to live here - I assume it will be made to look good.

Fan Pier and Pier 4 were originally planned to have large hotels as major components (a grand Hyatt under the Pritzker version). Why has the city approved plans with only residential and office? Hotels would greatly improve the area and would improve the convention center situation.

Agreed. Still hope that 10 Fan Pier Blvd will be a hotel.
Actually, even One Harbor Shore drive. I am not sure we know what's going on there...

How does one clad the crown in glass without a crane? Is it possible to just take the glass up by hand in the elevator? Honest question (I just assumed once the crane was gone that glass would stop going up).

Swing Stages. Essentially window washing rigs. Not that hard.

They use the window cleaning rig. Lots of buildings use them to finish once the cranes come down.

Are they going to put glass on the crown? They started putting up framing and then just stopped, does anyone know whats going on there?

I usually whine about all the new mirrored all-glass buildings in the Seaport (and elsewhere in Boston), but this time I'm going to whine about this dark & gloomy all-glass building. I thought the era of heavily colored/tinted glass had finally ended when they renovated the Javits Center (I'm talking to you too Parcel I). And if you're going to do a mullion-less facade make sure the rubber gaskets between the panes of glass are flat and not all wavy, out of plane, and shabby looking.
The Envoy seems to be the only new glass building in the Seaport that allows its glass to actually be clear, instead of dark or reflective, with no views through the glass to the life within....
