Twenty Two Liberty @ Fan Pier | 22 Liberty Drive - Parcel C | Seaport

Re: Twenty Two Liberty @ Fan Pier | 22 Liberty Drive | Seaport

A)
b) The Aquarium was never interested nor was any serious Casino proposal.

Not arguing the other points, but Wynn was interested in putting a casino there or around there. Menino said Suffolk Downs instead. And now we have neighboring communities in lawsuits against one another and a convention center paying to build hotels with taxpayer money.

Not only that--- Fan Pier is a complete Taxpayer handout. That's why I feel ripped off.

I could be wrong about the park. Maybe the park will be more creative and unique from those renderings and will revitalize the entire area with everybody loving it.

I just don't feel like that this is going to be a public park or a destination spot for the public

Re: Twenty Two Liberty @ Fan Pier | 22 Liberty Drive | Seaport

Interested in casino doesn't equal serious proposal or any official proposal at all.

Do you pay taxes in Boston? I do and am not nearly as outraged as you.

Well, it will be a public park regardless of how you personally feel about that. The second part is what we will wait and see about.

I recall your rants against the greenway and how much it was gonna suck from a handful of years ago now. Your tune has changed somewhat on that it seems. Maybe time will heal this wound too.

The Greenway has potential: But the two key parts are Harbor Garage and Harbor Towers ground access to really open up the area.

Greenway is different than Fan Pier. Greenway is not a private development.
The Greenway was left over after a very expensive infrastructure build-out for the city of Boston.

R&D guys make about $50k in Boston, Med and Cath Lab Techs can pull in about $80k. Kinda low for "rich", no?

Shawn I don't know where you got you $ from

A lot of R&D guys are not making too much now in cash but taking equity -- they hope that the penury now translates in affluence after an IPO or buy-out

Others working for bigger companies and just getting the $ are making much much more than $50k -- try about $95k to $110k for people with a year or so experience as coders, systems engineers, or scientists

Re: Twenty Two Liberty @ Fan Pier | 22 Liberty Drive | Seaport

Well Massachusetts has 6,745,000 people, so I'll just split the difference and count myself in the camp of 4,744,999 others that will check it out... plus the tourists.

This isn't 1890 anymore.

+1,000.

Can SOMEONE please tell Rifleman that the piano has 88 keys. He doesn't have to indiscriminately keep banging the same note regarding every single development.

The PUBLIC park at 22 Liberty looks like it will be a great addition to the Harborwalk.

If Rifleman wants to complain about something - - it's not the PRIVATE developers but the PUBLIC sector that is screwing this city regarding taxpayer access to the waterfront in Boston. Just take a gander at our good ol' Postal Service squatting on half of Fort Point Channel and actively blocking any and everyone from walking there.

Hallo?????

Talk about misplaced anger..........

My cuz is an R&D tech for Biogen, fourth year in, and is making 65k. The other numbers I just got from Monster.com. Maybe section heads are pulling in over 100k, but that's not the norm as I understand it. Unless you have a business or marketing degree on top of your biochem BS, there's a hard ceiling in how far you can move up in biomedical.

⬆⬆⬆⬆⬆⬆⬆This. Not the point of the thread, but every point doesn't need to be argued. Especially when you're talking out of your ass.

Re: Twenty Two Liberty @ Fan Pier | 22 Liberty Drive | Seaport

An old, re-purposed joke to sum up TheRifleman's argument:

A wife hears on the radio that a man is driving on the wrong side of the road, and weaving so he doesn't hit any drivers. Worried about her husband, TheRifleman, she calls him on his cell phone. "Honey! Oh I heard on the radio that a man is driving on the left side of the road and is weaving so he doesn't hit cars. Be careful!" "Oh it's not just one car! There's about a hundred passing me on the wrong side!"

Maybe you're on the wrong side of the road, TheRifleman?

Re: Twenty Two Liberty @ Fan Pier | 22 Liberty Drive | Seaport

And so what if they are rich? They are human beings that are revitalizing our city. This is a great development.

If this was such a great development why did Fallon need to use the city of Boston tax incentives to help lure Vertex out of Cambridge with massive tax incentives to Vertex? Not so great for the taxpayers but great for the private developer.

The tax incentives to Vertex helped lower Fallon construction costs. This deal was no good--Back room dealings going on here right in your face.

Then we get Kendall Square development model on the water because the developer and the BRA have no creativity to make the Seaport find it's own identity

Make sure your a Boston resident and you have your "roommates" wont put you over the income limit when you apply! those will undoubtedly be on the vertex side of the building looking at a glass wall but still probably the nicest BRA offered units in years!

We're in luck! We can live at 22 Liberty.

Re: Twenty Two Liberty @ Fan Pier | 22 Liberty Drive | Seaport

Time for everyone's favorite aB game! Guess how many applicants will apply for the abysmally low number of affordable units!

I'll go with 9,500.

Re: Twenty Two Liberty @ Fan Pier | 22 Liberty Drive | Seaport

I didnt realize this was a thing we did... I dont ever remember seeing how applicants there were. And yes, 2 units is bullshit

I do not want to take this thread off-topic....but there are many strong, informed opinions on this board when it comes to forcing developers to subsidize home-ownership in high-end residential developments. Posts like this always cause a long-debate, so please, if you want to talk about what you believe to be "bullshit," please take it to the appropriate thread.

Re: Twenty Two Liberty @ Fan Pier | 22 Liberty Drive | Seaport

This would be like hitting the lottery.
