One Greenway (Parcel 24) | 0 Kneeland Street | Chinatown

OH..damn!...

I’ve said in the past that this thing reminds me of a self-storage facility. I take it all back. I think “prison” is a much more apt comparison.

That side of the building screams Welcome to Boston!

It's like a piece of space junk fell out of the sky and landed in the most awkward spot possible. You can't help but notice it there.

In (reluctant) defense, the texture reads like corrugated cardboard in the photo, but is better in person. Also, from an occupant perspective, sitting on top of one of the fumiest spots in the country doesn't make this a prime spot for garden balconies and sweeping windows.

That being said, it does kinda suck.

^ Well to be fair that can be said of the expressway itself...

It looks like it was intended to blend in and become part of the expressway cave wall.

The park and Chinatown-facing walls got a much better siding treatment, but it would have been nice if the highway side of 88 Hudson had more continuity with the rest of the One Greenway development.

Without having seen this in person ...

Man oh man does that look like Trashy McGarbage.

WTF? Was this designed on Take Your Architect Out For A Lobotomy Day?

This is what you get when you have to make affordable housing out of scraps. Honestly it's not terrible and the architects probably did a lot with very little.

I like it; its unique. And it blocks the highway from view.

Dear Lord......

...whoever is responsible for that side of the building hates humanity.

For the highway side, all I can think is that the architect knew it was never going to be pretty (given the shoestring budget for the affordable housing, and the awkward window placement caused by the bizarre lot shape), so he/she decided to make it disappear into the background as much as possible (basically a gray nothing on a gray highway).
