50 Liberty @ Fan Pier | 50 Liberty Drive | Seaport

what is being referred to here? Isnt this an architecture forum? Should we stop being critical of lazy and sloppy design because of "bigger problems". This building is not one of the most prominent buildings that Boston has due to its highly visible location and as cadet says ... there is no excuse for an owner and designer not demanding of themselves the respect that a building in this location deserves. It is done like a fast cheep fabric building (nothing wrong with that) except it is not part of the fabric ... it is a part of the face of our city.
Shame.

Well said. I second this.

That little staircase thing is taking FOREVER. Kind of neat though - will be a fun place to eat lunch.

I would assume that the staircase would not be open until the Marina office is fully built out either, which could still take a while.

Does anyone else think that the big silver beam thing at the entrance is ugly AF?

It's a giant silver Noguchi Table.

Haha.. very good! I don't know anyone who is happy with the way this sculpture was executed, including the ones who paid for it. From what I've been told, it will actually get completely removed and redone as nobody is satisfied with all the seams, dents, and general shittiness. The contractor really laid an egg on this one and people are pissed.

Don't get all the hating on this. In person it's substantial enough, neither flimsy nor cheap looking, and not dented. Absurd if this is replaced.

This seems like the sort of thing that does probably look fine up close. I think it's probably among the least offensive things about this project, which as I've said before, I think is remarkably low-quality. They cheaped out on the building, why start the quality construction at the end?

Those dents were not intentional?? Jeez, that's bad...

Right, the intention and the expectation was that the surface be smooth, without visible seams. I honestly don't know how close they'll end up getting there, even after removing and re-doing. It took a lot of precision-cut plates, welding, polishing, and time to get Cloud Gate in Chicago (different scale and shape, I know) to appear seamless.

corner unit, private terraces, marina slip, 3 parking spots and 13 foot ceilings - very nice.

Monthly condo fees are $5K a month = bananas

At 3500 sq and $11.5M, it is 1 floor above an 1800 sq ft unit for sale at $3.7M. Half the size but a quarter the price. I don't see how this will sell for even north of $10M.
