I take back that "BEST. DAY. EVER." comment from last week. The 7:1 defeat of Brazil in their own home was the "second. best. day. ever."

Today is the BEST. DAY. EVER.

I was only 14 days old the last time the DFB won the Cup.

For real. Is it me or has the number of crises gone way up these last few months?

I honestly don't think so. I think we just have increasingly broader and simpler means to find out about them.

That said, yesterday was absolutely terrible.

No kidding...every time I get on the highway (I live just outside Kuala Lumpur), I see a sign that says "Pray for flight MH370." I guess, now they're going to have to add flight MH17

Yup. The world is a hell of a lot safer than it used to be, we just hear about every single incident around the world that happens at lightspeed. Makes it seem as though everything is constantly falling apart.

Needless to say, though, this is a BIG event for geo-politics.

Swinging thru Boston on the way home from Maine and planning on making a quick stop in the seaport to check out the new construction and take some pics. Should I just drive around and park at first place that has a spot or can anyone recommend a cheap and legal place to park for an hour or two? It will be a Monday or Tuesday around 11AM. Not sure if the lots or garages fill up.
Thanks

I was just reading about Hart Island in NYC. Does Boston have a potters field?

Even with ice cream, government center looks depressing

It was oddly empty. I think it had something to do with the fact that the sundaes were pre-packaged. It took no time at all to give them out and because of that there were no lines or crowds. If they had been scooping it there, there would have been a line and some crowds making it look a bit more active.

A quick google says there is one under active use at Fairview Cemetary, and a historical one out on Long Island with "thousands" thought to be buried there.

SEXY parking garage, from none other than Behnisch Architekten. This should be the standard for every parking garage:

Santa Monica's Newest Parking Garage Is a Polychromatic Party
Brigette Brown

The German pioneers of sustainable design, Behnisch Architekten, celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Founded in 1989 by Stefan Behnisch, the internationally renowned firm has maintained a cross-disciplinary approach to designing cutting-edge spaces, while never losing sight of the social aspect of building great architecture, rather than architectural objects. The parking structure they recently completed in Santa Monica makes for a worthy celebration of the firm's first quarter century, as the project took a worrisome situation of overcrowded streets and stolen cars and turned it into something magnificent.

Behnisch was the mastermind behind our very own Genzyme Center in Cambridge.

Speaking of Long Island, there's a public tour heading out there in a few weeks: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/698101

$30, sounds like they take you around Fort Strong and the lighthouse. I bought tickets for myself and the lady since is the first public access opportunity to the forbidden island that I've ever heard of.

Everyone has probably already seen pics of this but I feel compelled to share, especially since tomorrow's rain is going to wash it all away. We'll always miss you, Robin.

Also leave it to Reddit to come up with this, but people over there thought of placing a statue of him here, or perhaps a plaque with the monologue written out.
