3rd floor starting to take shape...

I don't have any "real news" on this or new photos, but I thought I'd share this tweet from Skanska, offering Reebok a look at what a Seaport HQ would look like. Made me laugh a little. https://twitter.com/skanskausa/status/794263123574325248

I'm not sure I've ever seen a developer do that before... the Globe implied that Reebok is down to finalists and this building clearly isn't one of them, but does Skanska think they have a chance?

Not only did the Skanska USA twitter account pin that render, they also tweeted at Reebok again an hour ago. It's like they're asking Adidas to prom.

My favorite part of that Tweet is that Skanska put the Reebok logo on the renderings. In the Globe article, they said, "Reebok president Matt O’Toole said in an interview with the Globe on Wednesday that the company is still reviewing a few sites in Boston, all in existing buildings..."

Equilibria -- Not the first

Gensler put a Plum Logo on the Hub on Causeway when GE was only known by a pseudonym -- Plum

Is that why Gensler got the Plum Assignment? hmmmmm

What other locations are the looking at?

Falcon -- the only information that we actually have is:
  • has to be ready about now [mid 2017 move]
  • close to the SE Expressway and South Station for their south shore based work force
  • an existing building.
  • probably looking for around 200k sq ft based on 650 people and it will be Reebok's HQ
That mostly limits them to some quite new but complete structures in the Seaport or rework of an existing Financial District Building such as 100 Summer where the Bulhorn folks moved who moved out of Farnsworth to make room for GE's temporary space

Am I being a hater or does Skanska move these along slowly? This and the Burger King site seem to have gotten off to slow starts.

who is else amazed that an architect found a tool other than a T ruler?

While I knew this was happening for months, it is amazing to actually see a curve!

What?! ...

If you think that the designer has any say over whether a building is shaped in a curve or a box you need to talk to more designers or more clients.

Oh ...and designers learned how to draw curves about .4 seconds after learning how to draw straight lines. They also learned 1.8 seconds after that that curves cost money so ... they keep their "french curves" in their drawer most of the time.

cca

(sorry ... a bit feisty this morning)

Lol I know that designers and developers drive the boxes to maximize returns. I was trying to say that it is good to finally see a curve on seaport Blvd. I think we can all agree that it is a good change of pace to see some sort of curve.

Curves seem to be the new 'fashion' in Boston buildings lately. One Seaport Square, the Target building on Boylston and several buildings in Kendall all have very attractive curves.

You see this and 50 seaport from some new spots in the seaport, I hadnt been there in a long time and was like what the hellll are those and once I got closer I was like wow those really shot up since the last time. Especially 50 seaport.

I agree that the Skanska projects seem to go up kind of slow. BUT, they don't have a tenant in place yet, so maybe they're not killing themselves to finish while they secure someone...
