I used to go to Boy Scout meetings in the building it replaced when I was a kid. The new buildings are great.

How do they handle it if they hit ledge while driving that steel into the earth? I've watched well driving companies pound their way through, but that has a much smaller diameter than what's required here.

They drive the pile until it hits “refusal” and trim off the excess. The piles have marks on the sides to document how deep they have been driven.

This one looks ready to remove the fences. Just in time for the bike path to close for reconstruction.

Healthpeak, a Denver company that normally focuses on healthcare development(link is external), has filed plans with the state for a $4.5-billion project north of Fresh Pond in Cambridge that would create a new apartment neighborhood, plenty of labs and offices for its residents to work in and a pedestrian/bicycle bridge over the MBTA commuter-rail tracks to Alewife station.

That is a solid, classy looking building. Crisp and clean, no goofy juxtaposed shapes and weird colors going on there. The Alewife/west Cambridge area has several great new buildings going up.
