First up is the project at 1304-1312 Comm Ave.

they splurged on the lights around the residents' entrance..!

Next is a recent development at 226 Harvard Ave just south of Staples. A gas station was here previously and got demo'd a month ago. The sign reads "30,000 sq.ft. Retail/Office"

The site:

And per the BRA's website: "Remove gas station and covert the premises into a 3-story retail and professional office building with on-site at grade parking (drygoods/clothing retail on first floor and first-class office space on the 2nd and 3rd floors."

Lastly, here's a project on Cambridge Street, just west of the Twin Donuts/Jackson Mann intersection

Saw this the other week. How long until this starts going up? The development on Commonwealth Ave took over 2 years to show up. I hope this goes a bit quicker.

I am not sure if this has been discussed, but what is happening with the HUGE cement area that is right next to Cambridge street? Just after the Cambridge st overpass of the Pike, there is a HUGE cement area to the right, is anything happening there? I thought it may have been Genzyme, but their addition is not going to be that big.

^I think it looks like a Citadel. It's where I'm planning to hole up when the Vandals come to sack us.

This site has renderings of what 226 Harvard will look like when it's complete:
http://www.226harvard.com/
it's a shame they couldn't get an easement to share the staples driveway. as a result, there will be two lanes of driveway breaking the streetwall where there could be an additional storefront in it's place...equally troubling considering the site is steps from the Green Line and the 66, a major circumferential route.

So we've got some fans of St. Elizabeth's, eh? I detest that monotonous orange brick (it screams institutional), but its massing is quite interesting.

And thanks to cden4 for finding 226 Harvard's website. I was worried that, due to the site's irregular shape, it might put its parking out front, but luckily they decided to make do with the back space. It's not a perfect site plan, but it should be fine.

that building is pretty nice. once again the construction color makes it much more interesting than the finished product....

but...

.... they completely blew the ground floor. This close to Union Square, you really had an opportunity to extend the 'city' out a little bit. Even if they didn't want to include ground floor retail... really? Blank cinderblock wall is what they came up with? Oh, i'll bet it will be 'mitigated' by 'open space' landscaping in front.

the good news is that it hides the open air garage the building sits on top of, so hopefully in the future, it should be an easy fix.

hopefully....
