Allston-Brighton Infill and Small Developments

Whoa, what's all that in this first pic?

EDIT: Previous page, last post. @02124

What is the tower in the far right background of that Charlesview pic?

Isn't that that lone tower down on Jamaicaway?

BTW, great shot. So many layers to chew on.

Parsons Landing - Allston

I love this photo! I nominate this for Best Photos of 2013!

The shot reminds me so much of London, which is one of the last things I'd expect from the street level through much of Allston/Brighton/Brookline.

I like it too, and at the end of the day Allston is decently dense. 18k/sq m according wiki.

Not providing parking is one thing. Banning car ownership is just stupid.

If he proposes a new development without parking the car-dependent NIMBY's will flip out. If he proposes a new development without cars, they don't really have a leg to stand on.
If this project required any variances I completely get the permitting rationale.
If it didn't require variances, it's a marketing schtick. I'd hardly call it stupid.

It is definitely about addressing the concern of car crazy NIMBYs. Several variances are required, as usual the 2 spaces per unit requirement and a few others. At the presentation he said his two main goals were to add green space and to not add any more traffic problems. There are plans for zip cars though.

I just hope the sidewalk gets widened. Everett is a fucking disaster in every way to walk on.

Excuse me while I laugh at those graphic panels showing natural elements. Is that the next phase of the "green roofs everywhere" rendering bullshit?

Still, everything else is looking solid, and who would've ever guessed a little project in scrappy Allston would garner national attention?

Last I've heard, the BRA is considering forcing the developer to build 35 parking spaces. There's another meeting next week on Wednesday 6:30pm at Jackson Mann again.

If I didn't have overseas travel plans, it would be entertaining to attend just to watch the weenies squeal ... we're trying to be green, we're trying to save the planet, the planet has a fever. WAAAAH!!!

Public meeting + bourbon = a surprisingly good time.
