“The proposed project includes the demolition of an existing three-story residential structure and the construction of a six-story, twenty-five (25) unit multi-family building. The new building will include thirteen (13) one-bedroom units, three (3) two-bedroom units and nine (9) three-bedroom units. The development will replace an existing parking area at the rear of the site with shared open space for building residents, reducing impervious surface and increasing usable green space.”

This is 259 Corey Road, taken around dusk. They just installed this illuminated sign on the building, which shines very brightly - on the houses right across the street. It seems completely unnecessary and in poor taste for such a sign in a residential area. Am I wrong to think that?

I agree with you, but the entire building is inconsiderate.

It's rather strange how all these Allston side street projects go up, but the ones on Cambridge and Harvard Streets barely move (the above being the rare exception)

Does anyone know where the murals that used to be in the windows of Allston Hall went? Were they thrown away during renovations?

Some developments in Brighton (3/1):

38 Hichborn Street (38 units)

249 Corey Road / The Jordan (33 units)

421-425 Market Street (23 units)

And finally, the single greatest infill project in all of Boston:

433 Washington Street (Chase Bank - formerly the site of Balamao and Bangkok Bistro)

The infill of Allston / Brighton over the last decade must rival any of neighborhood in the city — perhaps because there are many more opportunities there to actually redevelop. Whatever the reason may be, it is impressive to behold.

I wonder what the Twin Donuts parcel will look like in 10 or 20 years. Given that triangular lot, it seems like it would be a great spot for a tall, landmark flatiron-type building, maybe with the old Twin Donuts sign incorporated somehow.
