Allston Yards (Stop and Shop) | 60 Everett St | Allston

I frequently just say allston-brighton so I don't have to over-think it.

Demarcation is probably best decided in this case by zip code... but none of the Boston neighborhoods have "real" borders that are hard and fast.

Anyway... I really would like to see some taller buildings here. I'm glad about this proposal but I think they could fit many more people in if they went taller than they already are thinking.

Re: Boston Landing Station Residences (Stop and Shop) | 60 Everett St | Allston

In my feeble attempt to unfuck this thread I want to say that I think the idea that supermarkets building housing is fucking genius. Why build housing with the hopes of a supermarket moving to the neighborhood when you can build a supermarket that can build its own customer base? Brilliant.

That used to be how we got rail infrastructure built.

This render showed up on the BPDA project page.

Is that a joke? I guess it's not the market that matters so much as the residential buildings around it.

I think it's that stupid fruitbowl logo that makes it look like a joke. I worked at a stop and shop when they unveiled it so I immediately asked what the hell it was.

Yeah, I'm eagerly awaiting renderings of the whole complex and a site plan, which supposedly contains 25,000 SF of public open space (~0.57 acres) and a new road network. The LOI says it will create home-ownership, so there should be condos, which hopefully use higher quality materials.

Edited to add: I love the red light strips on the road in the rendering. Pretty sure that isn't reality.

That's a fruitbowl? I always thought it was a bunch of smaller bowls falling out of a larger bowl. Like a nesting doll hah.

haha you sound like my aunt who thought Santander was a coffee shop because of their logo!

Red streaks are the affect you get when you take a picture at night with an SLR and a car goes by. Not reality ... not even close. The steaks are there to let you know that its not real.

Re: Boston Landing Station Residences (Stop and Shop) | 60 Everett St | Allston

Is there some sort of counter available for the 53,000 units of housing the city is trying to build by 2030? Like, a website that could tell me how many units have been successfully completed since Walsh made that his goal?

completed + permitted (since this is Boston) might be more appropos.....

i believe the first project to officially become part of the number is 1 Greenway, but others here might be know for sure.

So, if we could get a LIST of permitted projects after that date, we'd possess a very clear view.....

Meaningful renders begin on p.60. For the love of Pete, no more "East Street" and "West Street." "Stop Street" and "Shop Street" would have been better. Actually, that would have been hilarious - please do that.

Good news - the facade decals didn't make it to this version. But the rear of Building 2 is really unfortunate. I assume they're anticipating the Boston Volvo Village site going up to hide it.

I don't see anything on that page showing that Boston Volvo Village will go up or hide building 2 in any way.

They're moving out of the site. They claim that maintenance/repair is staying there, but I don't believe it. They'll sell out. I mostly posted the link because I thought it was well-done.
