Re: New Tower(s) Planned For Prudential Center

Any of you remember what the Pru looked like before 1986? I'd say the PruPAC process has been a great success.

Did Boston Properties own it before or after the walkways were glassed in? I vaguely remember the place being a cold cold snow swept wind tunnel before everything was glassed in at the foot of the tower.

Re: New Tower(s) Planned For Prudential Center

I recall that the glassed-in walkway bridge from the Marriott to the Prudential Center existed before the Prudential was redeveloped into an enclosed shopping mall. At the Pru end, it originally dumped you out into an outdoor plaza.

Thanks as always Beeline.

Has that tube that looks like a laundry chute running up the side of the hotel always been there? If so, what function, purpose does it serve?

Re: New Tower(s) Planned For Prudential Center

I don't know whether it serves a purpose or if it's intended to be strictly decorative as a continuation of the column below but it's been like that as long ad I've been around.

Re: New Tower(s) Planned For Prudential Center

JHT looks really tall from that angle.

Re: New Tower(s) Planned For Prudential Center

Let's see more skyline shots of this one! It's really starting to make its mark now.

More white precast?

Re: New Tower(s) Planned For Prudential Center

The photo's a bit overexposed. It's more light tan than anything.

Re: New Tower(s) Planned For Prudential Center

That cladding looks like it was hit with the Lord & Taylor exterior stick. WTF?

Re: New Tower(s) Planned For Prudential Center

I don't see that at all. If it is light tan it is much lighter than the Lord & Taylor and the cladding is a different texture. I think this will end up looking more art deco than big box store I don't know what "style" that would count as.
