Back Bay Garage Tower | Dartmouth and Stuart | Back Bay

These renderings look old. Are they? I mean, the look is a sleazy type of 1990's, with a lot of 80's kitsch in there. The whole development needs revamping to 2017.

That's a shame.

I'd like the development to be clean, crisp and modern, more mid-century and less 80's. The large arched entryway is particularly gross and garish, as are the buildings themselves.

So you're name is Charlie mta and you don't know what back bay station looks like? The reason that entry looks garish and from the 80s is because it is from the 80s as it's the existing station.

But his point is that if the station is being redone, why not ditch the garish arches & geometric shapes in Back Bay?

Am I the only one that doesn't mind the arches at back bay station? Sure, there are a million other things wrong with BBS, but the vaulted ceiling and arches were/are its saving grace. I love a big 'ol glass train shed, like the classic european stations (and our own SS used to have), but you'll never fit that in this narrow space - not to mention that there are only a couple tracks at Back Bay. So, to me, the high ceiling and arches are an homage to the grand stations of yore in the substantially limited space of this station.

I think the main hall needs a refresh, not a demo/start-over. The rest of the station needs a complete start-over.

I love the mega wooden arches at Back Bay and random shapes. Fuck you people who hate the 80's design aesthetic.

I also love the arches and am a huge fan of geometric shapes/patterns, so yeah they should leave well enough alone.

It wont look like this when its built. Everything in Boston goes through multiple design changes before theyre built. Hopefully what they end up with is good.

Hopefully, but usually things tend to go downhill, no?

I'm holding on to some hope that Simon will announce that the Copley Tower is back on, which will distract from what is going on across the street.

You aren't the only one. I like it quite a bit, the only real complaint is that it's a bit dark/dank, but some better lighting and other freshening is probably all it needs.

You are not going to fix the dankness with lighting. The place leaks like a sieve.

In the months after the BBS is completed, new residents will walk downstairs right past Dunkin Donuts to board packed Acela trains full of gleeful passengers.
