BU Development Thread

Does anyone like the law tower? Was it liked when it was new? Its just... gross. It looks like some industrial complex was turned on its side and there should be smog belching out of it or something.

I believe it's one of those things where you have to be "sufficiently qualified" to like it. The Average Joe understands it's hideous; the GSD types Data refers to think it's a complex, nuanced, groundbreaking work of genius that the proles will never get - "appreciating" things the rest of us can't is their source of superiority/power, after all. Cf. Peabody Terrace.

Well put itchy. Unfortunately, it is the rest of us, the great unwashed, who have to look at it for fifty years or so.

I am educated in the field, and I still think its garbage. Government Center, the original configuration of the pru, etc I don't like, but I "get it". Law is just trash. Aesthetically and functionally.

^A plaza is being constructed adjacent to the Admissions Reception Center.

The 738 picture, where exactly is it? Are the covering the front of the garage?

What are they doing with the Boston Cat Hospital offices in Kenmore on Beacon: http://goo.gl/maps/Z76jZ. My felis domesticus has been going there for the last 10 years. Got notice from them last month that they're moving to Huntington somewhere not too far from Angell because they got bumped out of their lease by the landlord. Given the BU offices right next door I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess this is the same-old, same-old story of the borg assimilating yet another area brain cavity.

Man, I'm gonna hate driving to JP with a pissed-off furball yowling the whole way in the seat next to me. The Kenmore location was so painless to get to from Storrow.

Talking Towers Laser Project.

There will be a temporary public artwork on the Charles River Campus, which includes projecting a red laser through the Boston skyline. A red laser will be directed between Boston University's School of Law and the Student Village 2 from dusk until dawn on October 10 through October 13, 2013.

Laser Safety Tips

When the beam is visible in the night sky, as with any standard laser safety practices, do not use any viewing aids or any device that could magnify the laser, such as binoculars, binocular telescopes or field glasses to attempt to see the beam up close.

For further questions and concerns, please contact the Medical Physics and Radiation Safety Division of Environmental Health and Safety at 617.638.7052

Thanks for the updates Matthew. The renovation for the new BU Admissions center is really bringing this building back to life. Probably my favorite building on the BU campus.

BU was so "appreciative" of the city's help that it went out and gave our mayor a job!
