I freakin love seeing this massive mess of concrete taken down!
It's demolition is a significant step in Boston's recovery from the ruinous urban renewal projects of the 1950s-1980s. The next steps in the recovery process should include tearing down the low-rise part of the Federal Building, the O'Neill building, and 1-2-3 Center Plaza. Replace them with some decent high-rises with ground-floor retail and a street wall presence. In time, those parts of Boston could start to look like a real city again.I freakin love seeing this massive mess of concrete taken down!

Apparently one worker was killed while using a backhoe the floor collapsed and he and the machine fell
https://www.bostonglobe.com/2022/03...ess-street-collapses/?p1=HP_Feed_ContentQueryA Boston construction worker was killed Saturday evening after a partial collapse of the Government Center parking garage sent him falling several stories in the heart of downtown.
Boston Fire Commissioner John Dempsey said witnesses reported that the victim was using a piece of heavy machinery when the floor “buckled” and the machine fell about nine stories with the man inside. The man was conducting demolition work inside the garage when the floor gave away beneath the vehicle, as it approached the edge of the building, Dempsey said.
A second person was also hospitalized, according to a Boston EMS spokeswoman, who said the victim was “indirectly involved” with the collapse. That person’s condition was unknown.
That dark grey paint looks good. It's amazing what the right color paint can do to freshen up an old brutalist concrete structure. On the south side, I think, we are seeing what will remain of the garage. The dark grey will be what is left of the garage and visible to the public.

Looks like structural bracing to me.Snapped this pic on my walk today when I went past the Bullfinch Crossing site and noticed some sort of structure being constructed. Is this a core?!
