Cambridge Infill and Small Developments

^ I has confusion over where this is with these new hats on the buildings.

That's Baker House at the far right, placing this on Memorial Drive. But I'm with you...I've been here a billion times and I've never noticed that awkward addition.

yup, saw the footings for them (it may be 2) last week. couldn't snap a picture. The whole binney st. curve has a ton going on.

Im headed there soon I'll grab some pics, saw the crane from the train today

Anyone ever eaten at Helmand? I think I remember reading when Hamid Karzai was named President of Afghanistan that his brother owned Helmand...

been there several times... they have a fire oven in the middle of the restaurant where they cook you fresh bread... and the food in general is great. We were all surprised at how good it was; I was expecting worse mostly due to its location. They have some interesting wine choices too.

Fun fact: when H. Karzai was living in exile before being installed as Afghan Prez., he used to pick up extra shifts at Helmand every time he was in town visiting the family. If you happened to be eating there regularly in 2001 when he was in the U.S. under constant negotiations with Washington about a post-Taliban gov't you probably got greeted by him at the door at least once.

The food there is freakin' amazing. Afghan food in general is amazing.

There's another, much smaller, neighborhood Afghan restaurant in North Cambridge. Corner of Mass Ave. and Walden.

Not to totally hijack this thread, but I have zero familiarity with Afghan food...what's it like?

It's an awesome mix of Persian, Chinese, and Indian. Which makes sense if you think about the geography. I've only had it once but it was delicious.

Not a fan of Indian (too spicy), but love the other two...will have to try it out someday.

The façade is going up on the new EF building. The light color panels have a bit of a weave texture to them.
