Cambridge Infill and Small Developments

The generating plant should be fully converted to Natural Gas -- that would free-up a no doubt heavily contaminated -- but excellently located building site

>Was the basement/foundation capped like the Watermark II site? They seem to be working on an existing concrete slab.

I believe both this and Watermarks are build on a roof of an underground parking garage.

Drove by this building last night. Aaaaaaaand it's gone. Pictures are from a few weeks back;

No kidding! Signs like that are works of art.

KZ -- those kind of industrial buildings with industry inside in Cambridge -- going, going ,,going ...nearly gone

Meat, Chocolate. Necco wafers -- several of these were still operating in the mid 90's

Once there were dozens of places like Genoa where the Blue Collar worked for honest wages and lived in places such as East Cambridge

While its easy to get nostalgic for another era -- time rolls along and things have to change or just vanish -- and as a whole Cambridge has been lucky -- the transition to the New Cambridge [Novartis versus Necco in the same building] has been relatively easy

I wonder how long the few East Cambridge holdovers(Fran-Dan, Met Pipe) have left. Both are prime biotech real estate.

Cossyd -- I hope Met Pipe stays for while -- I can buy stuff from them that otherwise takes a lot of looking

I'm glad that you mentioned Fran-Damn -- I'd not been there in so long that I thought they might be gone
