Crane Pix Past and Present

Why would this be trespassing/why would security come over? All you're doing is going to the top of a garage and taking pictures, no?

Honestly, they didn't actually escort me off. All they said was "we were told a guy is up here taking pictures" but I had just finished anyways. I took the elevator and they walked away. I have been escorted the Pi Alley garage in DTX, although they said they liked my pictures. Also a random worker told me "no loitering" at Wellington garage, but I have only really been escorted off from Pi Alley.

They definitely offer good views though! I have probably been to the top of 15-20 in this area.

Ever since 9/11, security agencies train their guards to be paranoid about people taking pictures pretty much anywhere. Understandably, parking garages could be a target, but it's horrific and has spawned many a "photography is not a crime" flickr and facebook groups. I've never been escorted off, but I know many friends that have and they weren't causing disturbances.

What do you mean, "Why is this trespassing?" It's private property, that's why it's trespassing.

I mean, really.

Well, if you're not a customer, you're loitering and they can ask you to leave if they want.

before 911 u could do what ever u wanted in garages, sex, drugs ect, ect, ect now u are asked to leave if u are not parked in the garages,I always drive to the top floor, then take pixs, these next ones are not from garages lol>

That's the Newburyport/Salisbury line, I think. Not sure if the line runs down the island or in the middle of the river to the north or south.

The current Chelsea Street bridge is a single-leaf Bascule bridge, similar in design to this image. This issue is age, and more important, width. The existing bridge is too narrow to accommodate larger tankers, and the narrow channel is a navigation hazard. The new brige will offer a channel 2x as wide.

The process to replace involves the construction we see now (new towers, and a new truss to carry the the road-surface that will lift in one piece to the height of the towers). In a few months, the old bridge will be raised one last time; they'll remove the concrete counterweight (on the East Boston side), lower the bridge, pull the pins, slide a barge underneath it, jack it up, and float it away for deconstruction.

Ah, so the old one is still there for a little longer. So are these towers actually towering over Chelsea St? Or next to it?
