Andrews was among those who celebrated the official ribbon cutting ceremony for the building on Sept. 25.

“I lived in the Savin Hill Senior Apartments, and I never thought I’d find anything better than that,” she said. “I moved here to try to get something a little bigger. It’s clean, and cleanliness is a huge thing. I have wonderful neighbors and new friends. Plus, at night you can see the whole of Boston from my windows………”

What a beauty. This part of Dot has pretty good bones. Keep improving the Fairmont line and watch it explode.

The Dorchester Brewing Co. situated on Mass Ave is an excellent local place with good beer, ale, and ciders, a roof deck and skyline views. It is also home to The Museum of Bad Art. Recently they sold their building to the IBEW next door for $10M after initially purchasing it from them 8 years ago and will be leasing it back from year to year. In October DBC stopped contract brewing for other labels. So, what's up? Are they in trouble like so many small brewers and are we going to lose this fantastic local hotspot? They say the proceeds will pay down debt, so only time will tell.

I think that this is an effort by the IBEW to assemble a large property for a future development. Unless they need some massive training facility, why else would they do it? And there are a number of large apartment buildings behind South Bay that are under construction or recently completed so there is no doubt about the viability of the area. My hope is the DBC survives and maybe becomes part of a larger development on Mass Ave.

.....never tried that before, but it sounds tasty.

.

As I recalll its a federal regulation about billboards near federal highways. The IBEW salvaged their investment by only posting public service messages.
