Encore Boston Harbor Casino | 1 Broadway | Everett

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Not a shock. Just look at how quickly they are to grant developers rights to build right next our highways - 93 in particular. Until they make a massive investment in expanded highways and other road infrastructure, plus mass transit, traffic will only continue to get worse and worse in the city of Boston and surrounding towns.

While density next to highways is not as good as density next to transit it's still better than low density. Density makes a city work.

2) Steve Wynn has a sense of humor. And is willing to spend money on that sense of humor. I know I laugh every time I see it in the renders, so thank you.
And it's worth way more now than what he paid for it. A good investment, and funny!

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Hundreds upon hundreds of millions of dollars will be spent on what, in the end, will look like a Liberace LSD fever-dream. He is very pleased and smiling down from whatever over-gilded, rhinestone bedazzled, mink stole cloud he is playing his solid gold grand piano on.

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

I agree with this; over-the-top opulence is fun for an occasional night out. Would I ever want to live or work in a place that looks like that? Hell no. But if I'm out with a couple friends to go gambling it helps get into the fun and spirit of the whole thing.

+1

Something about a casino makes what would otherwise be over the top, gaudy feel perfectly appropriate.

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

think of all those badly needed hotel rooms.

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Heres all of the pictures from wynnbostonharbor.com

Deluxe Resort

Parlor Suite

Panoramic Suite

Those are not in any way the views from the windows lol. Itll be closer to this pic below but higher up so still not a bad view. The first pic is from East Boston haha. Heres a cloudy pic from BeeLine but its the best I could find. This last pic above is actually the closest picture to what it will actually look like, the others not at all. That picture is from Charlestown but the angle of the Hancock is about the same because this plot is almost straight back from Charlestown. You just wont have the Zakim right there like in that picture, but it will be similar to that. Still going to be an amazing view of the city from this hotel, the views are always better looking at the city from outside looking in than looking from within. The angle that the tower is positioned though looks like it will be looking out towards behind the Pru so the corner rooms may be the only ones with the full panoramic, not sure but well find out.

Looking on google earth it looks like the entire tower would have had to have been rotated on the site to face the city. It looks like the views out the window will mostly be of the suburban area of Cambridge out to Brookline and Allston.

Huge fail that there is no event space being built here. It would have been amazing to have indoor concerts, ufc fights, boxing...etc. I may be mistaken but didnt Everett shoot that down because of traffic? Either way thats a huge missed opportunity to not have another space like that in the city. It works better for the Casino too because all of those people gamble. How cool would it have been to head down to Rowes Wharf and hop on a high speed water taxi and whip across the harbor and up the mystic to head to a McGreggor fight? Damn. Theres not really any upscale space that I cant think of for a high profile UFC fight that isnt the garden and thats usually excessive for a fight. This would have been much better if they had, but oh well cant win em all.

Do we know for sure this is true? I know we aren't getting a 10,000 seat Mohegan Sun Arena at the Wynn but not even a venue in the 1,000 capacity range for shows/concerts? If so, that is a HUGE fail. Much better off having a venue for shows than tons of luxury retail that most will never set foot in. Come for dinner/show drop a few hundred at the tables in between. Casinos like this need that draw once the novelty wears off, no?

Yea no mention of it on the website and im 90% sure I remember it being shot down because Everett didn't want the associated traffic. Yes it is a HUGEEEEE FAIL here. The only reason to go here is to gamble now they are missing out on a huge segment of the population who does not gamble that would go to shows, also you never know once these people are there they may throw a few bucks in the slot machines too since their already there. Fail.

Yeah I'm not sure what Wynn is thinking here. I would have been more focused on the overall nightlife vs the gambling aspect to steal away from Boston.

The Wynn casino destination if the nightlife was not stop with clubs, shows, 5-star performances would have locked in Wynn every weekend for excitement in Boston which Boston is not known for great nightlife compared to other cities.
I would have begged my company to have their conferences right in the Wynn casino

This is a HUGE missed opportunity if this is the case. I think WYNN is thinking he wants only high clientele in the casino but in realty the only people that gamble all day long are degenerates.

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Does anyone know if the casino is subject to MA liquor laws (will they be able to serve past 2AM)?

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Parts of it remind me of a giant Cheesecake Factory.

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

No event space and not turning the building to face the skyline is two huge mistakes. What was the thinking here?

He'll still walk away with a billion in profits. What does he give a shit about it.
I'm not crazy on this overall Cheezy wannabe 80's gangster renderings. I'm sure it will still be packed.

Some of the renderings look like the parts of the movie Big Trouble in Little China. David Lopan's secret sanctuary--

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Seriously ... if I were to ever be tortured for some reason, the guy in the black hood would just have to take me to this place and hold my eyelids open. Damn.

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Maybe they should put a MONORAIL in around this development wrapping into the city of Boston possibly on the water. This place looks like a fucking circus show.

Any bets Everett will change forever for better or worse
Either
Biff's Casino or Everett's Disney World

I'm betting this casino turns into a positive Disney world. Too much money coming from all sectors to demoralize the area. Boston might end up being the most expensive place to live in this country.
