Encore Boston Harbor Casino | 1 Broadway | Everett

Im a fan just for the fact that this went from an empty contaminated wasteland of a lot to another nightlife facility for the people of Boston. I hate gambling, but a lot of people like it and I think its cool they get their own replica of one of the nicer casinos in Vegas. One of the non cheesy towers. Its a unique glazing on the landscape we have no bronze towers and it adds another tower far away from the core expanding the urban footprint. Its gonna be cool to have a view of Boston from your window then you can go downstairs and hit the tables. I really wish it had svent space for ufc, boxing, concerts etc... I think it could have become a legendary venue. Who knows maybe theyll expand it in the future and add one. Either way huge win for Bostons nightlife, skyline, and cleanup of the waterways.

Oh yea another plus is these towers look beautiful at night. Pure class. Thank god the night time renders show that this tower will be lit up the same as Vegas because it looks reallllly good. This is going to be a gem on this corner of the skyline at night. The more lighting the better. The more incredibly badass lighting the more incredibly better lol. For real though looks bery good.

Does anyone else find it ironic how the Encore signature swoosh--though distinctly Wynn--is consistent with Boston's proclivity for slanted skyscraper roofs?

Never thought about that. Its cool we found our “thing” and it looks good. NYC is the city of spires, Chicago the city with broad shoulders- more though the northern city with too many balconies, Miami the tropical city of balconies and stucco, Philly the city that has a lot of buildings but only looks like it has 4, and Boston the city of the slanted roofs. The harbor garage would have had some striking slanted roofs but we know what happened there. 40 Trinity is the last one proposed for now I believe right?

i knew how ugly the curtain wall was going to be. But it still stings.

This materials appear to suffer significantly under an overcast sky.

Conversely, i believe it will look good on bright days.

The Vegas towers certainly do.

i can't explain it but; because of their height and pleasant a/r,

i think the Vegas towers look fine. i'm hopeless i know.

There are few cloudy days. They look especially good at sunset/dusk.

I love it. Wouldn't necessarily want a tower like this downtown, but it's a fun piece of flair that stands out in an otherwise industrial area.

Just think of what we missed though... If smurfier heads had prevailed we could have had our own smurfy version of the mushroom village in Revere:

The casino (and entire ground floor) looks like one gigantic Cheesecake Factory. While this is acceptable and even appropriate on the Vegas strip, it sticks out like a sore thumb in Everett. This is the one part of the project where I wished they had taken a more regional approach.

1 - Sticking out in Everett is both a good thing and not hard to do. Take that Teddy Peanut Butter!

2 - This shouldn't have been and will not be a part of the regional architecture. It is physically and visually isolated.

3 - Your mileage may vary but I like the tower. Cloudy days, sunny days, night. Given what we generally see in this city (everything in Bulfinch Triangle) this is not screwing up big by trying to accommodate the "Boston look."

4 - The ground floor does look like a Cheesecake factory. Won't defend that. It's chintzy. And now that you brought that up I'm getting anxious again that there won't be a Wynn buffet on opening day. Dear lord let there be the buffet. That and the new park = only reason I'd ever go. :)

And work continues on what looks like a new seawall on the southside of the river.

That's a non-Wynn related MBTA project that will decrease the threat of flooding @ the Charlestown garage and will protect an underground transmission line. Will be more of a natural barrier than a sea wall, if I recall correctly.

Will they put a bike/walking trail on top of it?
