Fan Pier Developments | Seaport

What services will leave from this dock?

There used to be a Fan Pier dock for boats from Lovejoy Wharf, but the T stopped running those after the Big Dig ended.

Seeing as you can now reach North Station via going under the Zakim, and the Lovejoy Wharf Building is now being green lighted, on top of the proposed circuit of Charles River paths, etc, I can see Lovejoy Wharf being reactivated for ferry service at some point. You also have the Victor being built, and soon the Merano. Couple this with the proposed TD Garden towers, and hey! You've got a whole bunch of residents look to find a nightlife spot in the Seaport, perhaps.

Wishful thinking, at least. But who knows.

My guess is that it will be tied into the upcoming Rowes Wharf - Charlestown Navy Yard - East Boston ferry loop.

Id rather a Harvard-BU-MIT-North Station-South Staton-Fan Pier route

Is this actually true? I know you can stand (or skateboard or whatever) in a nice little plaza under the highway, but i think the leverett onramp and the tracks prevent you from actually getting to the station at this point. We are still a few pedestrian bridges away from genuine access.

The broader point, that there is huge potential for intra-city water tranportation, is one I support enthusiastically....

Ah, I forgot about the Leverett Ramp part. You can walk around that at the point is in its tunnel, but it takes much longer than just walking over the Bullfinch Park. So its doable... but its a PITA.

wow. that curve is really slick. I am starting to like this building...

Oh dear... I didn't consider the fact that the reflective building would reflect 1MPD.

When its all said and done, I think 1MPD will be very well hidden. I think its clear they recognized this when picking out materials.

And that the quality of the glass would be so bad ... man ... look how oil-can-y that thing is.

Dredging must take forever. Do they always use such small buckets? What a PITA.

I wonder if the dredged material will go towards anything in particular. Is there some sort of designated dumping area out in Massachusetts Bay for dredged materials?

Anyone know if there is a public version of the PDA for the Pier 4 development as there is for the Seaport Square?

Meant to write Fan Pier there instead of Pier 4, but the question remains (for both). All I can find are the very old PDAs, #23 and #24, from 1988. Surely they must have had to resubmit something for the new development going on now.

ARRRRG ... the louvers are burning my retinas! That is a total loss of architectural control.
