Forecaster Building Addition |121-127 Portland Street | West End

This thing went southwest in a hurry......... to Woonsocket.

This thing makes that row house in Fenway with the construction trailers atop of it look good. That's an achievement.

I wonder if that was the original plan or if they had to do some extreme value engineering after all the problems with the original contractor?

I think you could be right. It wouldn't surprise if there was not enough performance bond to cover the issues/problems with the first contractor. Plus probably another year of interest on the construction financing.

Whatever gets built to the right of the blank wall may hide the various sins of omission and commission.

that cladding is, beige.

that cladding is, beige.....

my God Doris, that cladding up there is beige.

I see they decided to crown a masterful example of historical preservation with a Sears vinyl siding motif. Brilliance.

Not only an achievement, a monument! That thing should be on a duckboat tour.

Seriously though, that has a sense of personality at least albeit a post apocalyptic dystonia nightmare personality.

The forcaster is just lazy lazy lazy.

breaking news...actual progress!

top 3 addition floors look to be near complete

ground floor is progressing with what looks to be storefronts

I've seen the Yale Appliance & Light truck there a few times in the past week as well, so this thing might actually end....?

aptly named Forecaster was dead on accurate inflection of Boston shedding the old ways.....

No photos but they have taken the external construction elevator down. Dare I say this project may actually be entering the home stretch? (Of course given it's history, the 'home stretch' may last another year.)

I could see this thing continuing to drag. Usually once the hoist comes down there is quite a bit of work needing to be done to finish off the infill but it would depend if they were units or other spaces. Realistically all that work will need to be complete prior to any final sign off by the Fire Department/ISD. My guess is you don't see people moving in until September...

The addition on this building is fucking hideous.

I'm mad that we waited this long for this to be the finished product. I expected much better for such a small addition. Hopefully something gets built next to it ASAP.

Are they serious? no matching brick facade wtf? Should we also assume when 1 Merrimack finally gets a proposal, it's going to have the same awkward silhouette? btw, graffiti would be an improvement for the 1st level.

Hey guys, I've got an idea, What if we...put an office building from Rt. 95...on TOP of a brick building...DOWNTOWN! No colors or detail or cornices allowed though. That would be so rad!

This building is officially aB's punching bag. We should install a plaque somewhere on it.
