Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

What could they possibly be doing inside the hole for this long. I know its on schedule but how do some towers go above ground in a couple months and this thing has been a hole in the ground for a year. Im pretty sure just the podium is the part with the overhang not the tower.

Is it just me or does this tower look very similar to millennium partners proposal for Winthrop square?

Ugh, I really hate when buildings do overhangs like this. Scares the crap out of me! (as if the tower wasn't already skinny enough, let's have part of it floating in thin air!)

If you look at where the support columns are for this tower (small grey rectangles along edges), the structurally significant make layout of this tower is almost hexagonal. So thought of another way the corners of the triangle going up aren't really carrying the load... they're like balconies wrapped in windows to keep a clean facade. I think it's cool.

This is only anecdotal; however, a friend of mine that had done some ground work for this project said the earth for the foundation had some issues stemming from the fact that it's urban fill. That coupled with the new ramp entrance they're connecting to the existing CSC garage built 40+ years ago obviously presents some challenges.

Odurandia -- you don't have to go to NYC for the "mother of all overhangs"

I've got to think that when this was first shown circa 1975 to Fiduciary Trust CEO and Board --- they had already had been managing Olde money for almost a Century -- well it must have had some near fatal consequences

and then it gets built and some little old lady or little old man comes to the "bank's" new address to check on his money -- better have the defibrillator prominently displayed ;)

Nice rock.

Nice rock!....I can just imagine an occasional female guest hearing that phrase upon check-in there........She'll think they mean the one on her hand, but they really meant the one in the driveway. :)

I went on the Cambridge seven website and the other renders were posted but actually the main render that we have seen a billion times is actually slightly different here its much darker and the facade has a couple differences. Still basically the same thing but it hasn't been posted yet. It is definitely not scaled correctly though because it is taller than the pru and would look even taller than it is from this angle because it is closer.

This was on the site also.

I also found an extremely big version of the lighter colored glass original by bridge area shot.

This has already been posted here and its the less detailed version but its great to look at it for a pedestrian standpoint if you click and expand it.

And this Ill just post so people dont have to search through the thread too far to look at the best render of the tower which can also be blown up huge.

This differs from the similar picture on this page.

Four-Seasons_3_(c)PCF&P.jpg

Its weird how they still dont show this being taller than the pru in any renders. I feel like they are only rendering it up to the "highest occupiable floor" to hide from nimbys because this thing is going to be huge.

Stick -- the real question is how many non-floors are replaced by Faux Floors in 1 Dalton?
;)

MT apparently has skipped [13 for westerners] and [4, 44 for Chinese] as these are all "Bad Floor numbers" for someone's sensibilities

The neighborhood association spoke in favor of this project, and gave it high praise. In fact, the spokesperson for the association even joked that the group's members were asking if it could be taller. So...

Damn they shoulda. Im not necessarily talking about just the neighborhood because we know in Boston NIMBYS come from everywhere. I feel like they're hiding the height in renders to make it look shorter than the pru because that affects the view for pretty much everybody with a view of the city and anyone could complain. If it looks shorter than the pru its a lot easier to pass it off as not affecting the skyline as much.

What does the top floor number say in the elevator?
