The fort point channel is already a designated helicopter flight path.
Basically I just think it's bonkers to put a helipad at ground level in the middle of the city, unless (maybe) it's in the middle of the south cove interchange - which would be only marginally more convenient than Logan itself (where there are existing helicopter operations of course.) Even if they put it on top of a new building, it's going to be mighty loud and disruptive unless the building is 15+ floors or so, which I don't think is in the works. And having something floating in the channel is just as bad - there's been a lot invested in making the channel an active pedestrian friendly area, even all the way down by its south end, and a helipad would just be really really unpleasant. I hope they rethink this, but I don't think they will.
Maybe they can rent the top floor of the channel center garage?
At least put it on top of a building or in the middle of the highway, please!! (And seriously if at Logan ge would be able to offer 'connecting flights' for its global personnel to Schenectady, Erie PA etc from anywhere in the country or the world ... Places not well served by commercial air traffic
