Should be pretty quick for a lot of things from here on out. Foundations, utilities/drainage, and grading always take the most time - after that, it's quite simple (not entirely simple, of course) to place your structures on top of that work.

Of course, the bridges will still seem to drag on - that is the nature of traditional bridge construction.

The next slow phase will likely be finishing and QA/testing.

The joint venture that won the contract called out how they minimized work below the ballast mat, which would enable them to make more progress in the winter.

Of course, they blew it with underestimating the amount of rock they would encounter during the deep drain installation.

Like this view looking outbound from Lechmere (that nut co warehouse is gonna make somebody very rich)

THis is a very "Los Angeles Expo Line" view from an aerial light rail platform

Im pretty excited for the new views. Elevated rail in the US got a bad wrap, but a lot of that was because it was hulking rusty squeeky steel structures that were built above main roads. Elevated rail that follows its own ROW is great, you get awesome views, sunlight, and it doesnt screw up any major throughfares. Plus new elevated lines are concrete and much nicer to look at, not rusty, quiet etc. Look at London, they have plenty of elevated lines but they are hidden behind buildings on their own ROW, thats the key. Im excited as hell for this project.

Are those GLX rails dropped on the CR side? (In Javier's photos from today of the Magoun-Sq-to-Ball-Sq stretch under Cedar St)

What do the last 7 posts have to do with GLX?

Lechmere Viaduct construction street impacts are a cop detail OT-pay bonanza months ongoing. It's dinging the project budget. It's fair game to ask why when the "mandatoriness" of all those time-and-a-half detail shifts is a bunch of institutional graft mob-enforced on its surroundings why we need to settle for the project budget taking a dinger over this in lieu of available streamlined alternatives.

It's a larger breakaway discussion because EVERY street-level construction project in the land takes the same budget dinger paying the mob rate for OT detail, and cumulatively that's an awfully outsized expense to be artificially shut out from examining lower-impact alternatives. The number of OT details induced by Lechmere Viaduct construction is well-illustrative of this begged question.

This is an extremely interesting infrastructure project with many civil engineering challenges. Kudos to all the regular contributors to this thread keeping us up to date. The photo's showing the progress has been most appreciated and educational.

^ While longtime fans know (and love) the photos above as

I think new and future fans would appreciate small "card catalog" captions on photos like the above.

Would photo-posters be OK if I add minimal captions as moderator if they have not? (Or dont soon do?) And assuming I can generally tell USq from Gilman from Magoun from Ball from Medford Tufts?
