Harbor Garage Redevelopment Pontificating | Waterfront

Doesn't seem very likely to me. Apple doesn't go around filling skyscrapers with office workers anywhere, let alone in Boston. They only have a few dozen desks in Kendall as it is. Why would they suddenly need space for (presumably that many since we are talking "anchor tenant" not 1-2 floors) thousands of employees in downtown Boston? They are currently building a whole new office park campus in Cupertino for 12,000 employees.

I'm with you on this.

Maybe Apple has other ideas or sees something with TRUMP now in office that will completely change the tax structure that they will need to bring back a whole slew of global jobs to this country.

One thing is for sure: MIT is the reason all these corporations are relocated or just having a presence close to Cambridge and Boston. Cambridge commercial rent has surpassed Boston's at this point. There is no more places to build in Cambridge if you are looking for 200K+.

WHO KNOWS.

Eating at the Granary on the Greenway yesterday afternoon. Looked across the street to Harbor Garage in disgust on how much that demoralizes that area.

Then this morning watching the Macy's Day parade and was envisioning bringing my family to NYC when I thought--Why doesn't Boston have a ThanksGiving parade starting from the Seaport through the Greenway.
Then I thought this is the same city/BRA/NIMBY that thinks Chiofaro/Pru knocking down a garage that is already blocking harbor views would be violating a law chap91 that would block harbor views. Very logical.

Boston elected officials are very short-sited.
Oh I forgot there is really no real T access to the Seaport also. Another miscalulation with the build-out to the Seaport.

My point is IT WOULD BE VERY COOL if the city of Boston started to offer Macy's day parade (maybe GE could fund it since the taxpayers have been so generous to that corporation)

Happy Turkey Day

If I was Chiofaro I would just keep the Garage and tell all the groups involved that have been trying to screw him. FUCK YOU.

Chiofaro/Pru had the public's best interest.

Chap 91 contradicts itself on this site. You can't build because you will block the harbor. The harbor is already blocked by a concrete block.

There will be case studies concerning this to show on how our leaders talk about Job Creation and what is best for the overall public. But what they will realize is in the end it comes down to Special Interest groups agendas.
#1 Political Leaders (Ex_mayor) Mayor Menino (A buffoon)
#2 Non-Profit Groups (Barr Foundation) --Non-profit company using non-profits to stop economic development.
#3 Political Agencies (BRA) ----- Clueless
#4 NIMBYS (Harbor Tower Residents) I actually Understand why they wouldn't want this built
#5 State/Local Agencies (Corrupt as they come in Mass)
#6 Most of the people that actually live in Boston at this point are out of towners. The people of Boston can't afford housing at this point.
#7 Aquarium (Another non-profit shitshow that watches there so called beloved ocean life swim in a toilet) Yeah those seals look real happy behind a fiber glass concrete wall 10x10.

This development process has been criminal against the Developer.
Notice the Greenway planning was done after Chiofaro bought the site by Menino.

This shows you how DIRTY and scummy these politicans are.

this is an instant classic

Do you know anybody from the inner cities of Boston actually buying any condos from Assembly Row never mind Seaport area?

Everytime I go to those areas I'm like the only Bostonian left. Everybody is from another country or state.

Cities evolve. Get over it. I would add that the Boston of today(or July 2015 when I was last there) is unfathomably better than the Boston I stumbled into in 2004.

So are the politicans and the Corporations really looking for the best interest in the locals?

Its all bullshit. Corporate Tax incentives, the entire zoning and rezoning is all bullshit.
#1 These people don't have our best interest. Do you really believe putting a Casino in the middle of Sullivan Square and 99--Is not going to impact the cluster fuck of Traffic that is already there in the 1st place there?

#2 GE, Liberty Mutual, Fan Pier, JPM---100's Millions in Tax incentives & Breaks for those developments only to create more useless traffic and insane rents for the locals.

But the Groups are flipping out on Chiofaro/Pru about knocking a concrete barrier down to build a 600Ft building which is located on instant Blue Line access which would decrease overall traffic flow going in an out of the city. Along with opening up the concrete barrier to the ocean.
And overall making a better Greenway a better place for the public.

Then you wonder how your Beloved future president got elected. You have a bunch fucking entitle shits running this state.

Don't be surprised if you see Massachusetts go Republican in the future. Most of the Residents like I said can't afford to pay there RENT in this LIBERAL STATE of Fucking Idiots.

Wouldn't even be surprised if 50% of Boston locals are on sometype of State or Govt assistance because they can't afford to live up in this area.
Don't worry Liberty Mutual still got there 60Million in taxpayers money to build in the backbay so they can continue creating those insurance jobs. Deval Patrick and ExMayor Menino along with whoever else was involved in that type of dealing should be investigated on ----what did Liberty Mutual do for the Democrat party to reap such generous tax incentives from the Massachusetts Public.

Fixed it for you. This entire thread.

It's not even whining. It's pathetic bitterness and misdirected anger.

Fixed it for you. This entire thread.

I come up with facts and logic . You come up with an uneducated rhetoric only a true liberal would know how to debate something like that.

I will whine, I'm tired of sitting in useless traffic all day.

You didn't state facts nor was it at all logical.

If you're tired of sitting in traffic, don't drive when traffic is heavy <--- Logic!

I come up with facts and logic......

You're not necessarily wrong, but you need to be more careful with your spelling and grammar. You're especially egregious with your use of it's/its and there/their/they're. For instance, you call people a bunch of idiots in the same sentence that you mention others can't pay "there" rent.

While I realize that it's quibbling, it makes you appear stupid in a forum full of (mostly) well-educated people. If you write like a 3rd grader, it reflects on your credibility and, right or wrong, serves to undermine your arguments.

I guess when the thread is called "Temporary Habor Garage" the expectations aren't too high to begin with.

You really need to clean it up because a lot of people are going to write you off (or already have) due to your sloppiness as opposed to your logic.

Thanks for the F for English class. Hey, everybody has their strengths and weaknesses in life. I can accept I'm not the best writer or grammar expert.

Please I'm hoping people undermine my logic. Then I would know I'm the idiot.

The problem with your comment "forum full of (mostly) well-educated people"
So most people without an ego would never really disregard anybody when getting something done.
The smartest and most innovated people never finished high school or college in this world.

The people I respect are the DREAMERS (productive class of society) that want to get something done. Not a bunch of bureaucratic scumbags that believe they are smarter than you by printing endless amounts of money to create useless inefficient Govt jobs to feel important.

I don't think you are an idiot Rifle. I don't agree with a lot of your logic but I understand where you're coming from. I just posted the mocking comment earlier because I was annoyed that you were bringing politics into this thread. Also you tend to repeat the same arguments consistently.

I am a Bostonian - born and raised, BPS, college here. I own my house in Dorchester. Why would I want to live in the Seaport? There is more to Boston than just downtown. I also don't see the point of Assembly Row here - it is in Somerville, not Boston - thus making people who live there not Bostonians by definition, anyways.

Well earned. I actually agree with many of your sentiments, but sometimes your presentation makes me cringe. (mainly that I agree with a passage that would receive a D or F in 3rd grade English classes) For instance, I automatically write off anybody who says "your an idiot" regardless of the validity of their arguments. Nobody here is asking for Shakespeare (except maybe Whigh) but proofreading for basic English mistakes goes a long way toward credibility.
