It must be AUCOCISCO which was the Abenaki name for the bay which means "place of herons". The only other option would be the ABENAKI name itself and would keep in the tradition of Redfern's HIAWATHA theme.

I always thought the first and third C's were hard, and the second one was soft, so Au-ko-SIS-ko. But I really only saw it used for a short-lived arts festival, and the ferry,

Yes. As a landscape designer and horticulturist I appreciate the fact that thought has been put into the landscaping and they didn't just throw some half dead trees in the ground as has occurred recently on a couple of other projects.
