Re: Millennium Tower - Filene's
Here, let me quote that for you Van:

That's the sexiest shot I've seen yet. It's not really going to do too much to shatter the height barrier of the plateau, but the slight height increase and variation in material from most of the Financial District's other tallest will be a welcome change.

One57 it ain't but I still dig it. Boston could use some more all glass towers.
I admire One57 for it's height and sleekness, but I am actually more fond of the Millenium tower. I think it has better dimension overall, and it fits in very well with a nice skyline backdrop. One57 is a very tall needle sticking out of many other tall buildings as if it were saying "Ha ha, I'm taller than all of you now." And that's probably because they needed to get those views of the park while being 2 streets away from it.
Now imagine that view with a 850 ft TNP and the SST.
I don't disagree.....but just imagine what 432 park ave. is going to look like.
I disagree, this is the first time in a long time Boston will get a tower that looks like it's not turn of the century. Regardless whether your coming from North, South if you're in the Back Bay or on the Waterfront this tower will be visible. Because of it's location a little higher on the hill it should dominate the area and not look stumpy from the Charles like most of the buildings on the waterfront. Additionally anything in the area will be a dramatically better increase from the hole and the hobos.
850? Let's dream at the full scale, 1000'.
I'm not getting the love for this building. Yes it will be tall and add to the skyline, but how many opportunities will a city like Boston get to make an architectural statement on this scale and THIS is the best we can do? I suppose it could be more boring (though it's hard to imagine how). Tyranny of low expectations.
perhaps that space would be contiguous.
