They are laying the pavers today. Will snap some pix when I head out.

Same view just from further back standing in Washington St.

I think the tree in the render at the left bottom is on the edge of Washington St.

Too bad the T or Millenium couldn't rework the elevator while it is out of service. Update it from the 1980's glass block aesthetic to something more like Park St or Harvard Sq received.

I personally like the mashup of all different time periods in this location. I dont think everything should all be brand new or all too old. Its nice to have range, which is also what the rest of Boston does very well too- albeit a smidge too much brutalist and a smidge too little art deco, but overall a good balance.

Handel seems to have actually paid homage to the odd elevator enclosure with the canopy over the ground floor referencing the canopy around the elevator.

I actually like the elevator head-house at this location. Not everything in this city needs to be new and shiny. Honestly I prefer the look of this over the new government center head-house.

I agree with the spirit of wanting to replace the lift - especially if mechanicals or the car can be upgraded or overhauled - but I also agree with others' sentiments about leaving it, if not for aesthetic reasons, for purely practical reasons.

On that note, I really hope MBTA was able to negotiate some rehabilitation of the stairwell coming out of that head house or at the very least have taken the opportunity to send in their contractors/design & construction department to do it on their own. The steps have been crumbling for years and by the time this project was in full swing, a lot of steps were wobbly and would disintegrate if you just looked at them. I was not particularly impressed with what minimal, skin-deep work that was done on the two entrances on the Summer/Washington Sts corner.

MT will be used by the nimby to advance their narrative that every project is a golden goose.

The anti-development crowd claim the Garden Garage tower will result in the largest economic windfall in human history for Equity Residential....

or just insert the Harbor Garage redevelopment and Dr Evil... or 1 Bromfield St, 111 Federal, South Station Tower/s, 1 Congress St/Govt Garage redo, Copley Square, Back Bay Station, 2 Charlesgate West, 432 Atlantic Ave, 45 Worthington St, 40 Trinity Place, the Pierce, etc...

update;

^ We need an Austin Powers/Dr. Evil standup cutout to put at the entrance of MT with him holding a sign reading: one BILLION dollars.... :)

*odd. i didn't see your Dr. Evil ref. perhaps the subconscious pulled it from the visual field.

Sorry these are pretty late. I care less about timeliness once a building stops growing.

Rest of May, 1 of 3

The cmpletion of this is making the skyline look good from all angles now.
