Some of the renders seem to support this. There appears to be a covering, with a large slot for the window-washing crane to emerge through.

Could also just be an easy way to do the render (an artifact).

It was undoubtedly VE'd out or never was in the first place. It's easy to just draw a plane across the roof opening to make the render look pretty and hide the fact that the model was likely entirely hollow inside.

Yea I always chopped that up to just being easier to render than a bunch of ugly mechanical equipment. Well find out soon enough though and I hope that it does happen. It could honestly be added later if need be and residents complain. Another thing that I thought would be cool is if whoever bought the penthouse said screw it and installed his own fog lights on the balcony pointing up at the crown to light it at night. If they wont do it he still could, 99% chance it doesn't happen though. It would be pretty funny if he had like strobe lights and disco lights installed and had them going at night so there was a light show coming out of the top floor when he wasn't there....he is a billionaire.

We all know the logical conclusion - a real life bat signal!!

Boston Business Journal reporting that John Grayken bought the penthouse.

Billionaire Banker in the Shadows...

"Among the robber barons of the new millennium, few are as secretive–or as loathed or as successful–as John Grayken of Lone Star Funds....

"Grayken appears to care little about getting good press. You won’t find any libraries or schools or hospitals with his name on them. He hasn’t signed Warren Buffett’s Giving Pledge. And he’s anything but a patriot: In an effort to avoid taxes, he renounced his U.S. citizenship in 1999. You’ll find him on our list as a citizen of Ireland."

Nate -- this guy also owns an island off of Cohasset and presumably a pad in Dallas where Lone Star Funds is based

according to the wiki
As of 2015, he lives in Pyrford Court, Surrey, which features prominently in the 1976 movie, The Omen.

Pyrford Court is a Grade II listed 15-bedroom house, built in 1910 for Rupert Guinness, 2nd Earl of Iveagh.

He is married to a British woman, Eilene Davidson

So I guess now they flit between Boston and London and summer off Cohasset -- where apparently he is from originally

Perhaps they are part of the Dallas party scene in January through March

I know we hate globe comments but first comment is pretty awesome:

"Renounced his US citizenship to avoid paying taxes? Sounds like a real hometown hero. Welcome back Johnny. You're the perfect poster boy for 21st century Boston"

You're going to hate him no matter what...we all want that penthouse.

I thought about buying this if I won the powerball that was bananas earlier this year, but the top floor of hayward place was for sale and it had a full outdoor rooftop patio with chairs, a fire pit, and a jacuzzi. Would have had to go with that one.

If he actually plans on living there the value of every other condo just went down.

Since he's an Irish citizen, specifically for tax reasons, this won't be a place he lives in more than a couple months a year at most. There are residency requirements for people have LLC's in the US but live/pay taxes in tax havens like Ireland.

How would that affect the value of his neighbors?

Are you kidding me, the PH was still for sale?

Shit if I had known I would have bought it

i chose poorly in phrasing my question on the other thread.

Does anyone know the exact number of occupied floors on MT?

Yes! You beat me to it. I saw them as I was running through on my way to the State House this morning

These will have wonderful street presence in the next 5-10 years!

I snapped those on my way in this morning. When I went out at lunch, they had planted more trees around the elevator.
