USM's RFP info includes this rendering: A very large 7-8 story building, with a 5 story frontage along Bedford St. Attached to the new student center. Thanks to Christian MilNeil for posting this on Twitter

Nice find Cosakita, will be a game changer for the University of Maine at Portland. From above the brick buildings do remind me of mill complexes you might see in Westbrook, Manchester, Nashua, Lowell or Haverhill especially with the smokestack in the background.

This will be huge for USM and housing in Portland more generally. This helps attract tons of students. Looking forward to adding this to the Oakdale neighborhood
 
Boulos is brokering(For Sale) of the Greyhound bus terminal lot for development. All bids are due December 19th. This is a very prominent corner and could be a multi story building opportunity. My concern is the bus company...Concord does not want them at their terminal, Utilize a stop at the Jetport? It will be interesting what comes of this...

Interesting. I wonder if Maine Med will have any interest in this property given their ongoing expansion plans.

It seems like Greyhound has really reduced its service to Portland in recent years, perhaps because Concord has come to dominate the market. Fifteen years ago that corner was much busier.
 
I was visiting family in Maine and staying on the 4th floor of the Residence Inn. These are some pictures from 12/7. First one is 100 Fore Street and the second of the rear of Wex.

It seems like the VA is fully committed to a new facility on West commercial Street. The JB Brown website lists a 100,000 sq. foot facility fully leased to the VA. The rendering shows a large 2-story building with a taller glass atrium but the image is so small and blurry it's hard to see much else.

Portland moves forward with plans to build temporary waterfront park

The proposal scales back an ambitious plan to create a $16 million destination waterfront park, originally called Portland Landing, that has drawn criticism from some in the city.

The city is moving ahead with plans to create a scaled-down "interim" park in the Amythest lot near the ocean gateway terminal.

Even a simple green space will go so far in enhancing that area.

The interim park, according to the city’s request for proposals, is expected to have raised planter beds, benches and low walls made of reclaimed granite, trees and perennials, lawn areas, walking paths along the water’s edge, a wooden guard rail, swing benches, a plaza, and a small parking area and roadway for Sail Maine, a nonprofit sailing school.

I have mixed feelings. I like how it stands out (and I'm very glad it's not brick) but I find the slate facade to be just a BIT too dark. I was hoping for more of a granite look (Like 215 Commercial st.)

Seriously. I hope that these developers realize that they are creating a Portland that no one wants to see.......cookie cutter low rise blocks with bland/ugly facades.

My only criticism of this (and this is not the fault of the developer) is that it isn't flush with the corner of Fore and India. That overgrown gravel parking lot on the corner (in unison with the sewage pumping station across the street) really make the corner of Fore and India a giant ugly stain on a prosperous neighborhood. I wish the developer had been able to buy that corner parcel from UPP and bring a 4-5 story extension of this building to the corner.
