Rose Kennedy Greenway

Jeeze Wighlander, do you need to bitch about the occupy movement in every thread, really? This might be the one to do it in, but because you have complained about it all over the place today, you just come off as a political hack with an axe to grind, not somebody with meaningful input about the subject matter.

^ Yes, the political BS inserted into these threads sucks the life out of this forum. It would be nice if there was some discussion about design, planning, etc. I should just go read the Herald's forum.

How dare the public use a public space. How dare they.

How dare the public use a public space. How dare they.

Especially to exercise their 2nd amendment rights! Shame! Shame!

I'm finding myself more and more in disagreement with Occupy as time goes on, but the fact that people want people forcibly told to keep their mouths shut and not to assemble kind of worries me.

Welcome to Lexington. Home of the one percenter.

Boston -- I dream of being a 10%er -- 1%ing is out of the realm of possibility

No -- it has nothing to do with what you earn or own - it has everything to do with what Capt. Parker told his boys on the Green at about sunrise on April 19, 1775

Stand your ground. Don't fire unless fired upon, but if they mean to have a war, let it begin here

and the counter command of Major Pitcairn to thow down you arms you rebels

That morning a new world was born when Sam Adams on hearing the firing on the Green remarked what a glorious day for America

A bit over a year later the die was cast when Hancock and Adams along with the other delegates in Philadelphia agreed to mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor and commtted high treason by signing the Declaraion of Indpendence

The fundamental premise at stake was whether a person was owned and controlled by a King, or the radicl idea whether that one had a right to own and keep the fruits of ones own labor -- i.e. property rights

Let me get this straight, Westie: you believe that a bunch of camping protesters, irrespective of their message, are trouncing this country's property rights by squatting on a semi-public median strip that is (mis)managed by a semi-secretive "conservancy" which already does not allow the public to throw a frisbee on "their" lawn ... hmmm, sounds to me like the troubles with so-called property rights pre-date the Occupy.

Boston -- that view is pathetic -- it makes Boston look like Mumbai near the airport

except there the squatters are squatting because they have nothing and nowhere to go

here the oBumBaNoughts are just doing it for the same reason that they smoke a bong -- they've nothing to contribute to the planet except waste products

I think I really do like dogs better

Hey why don't you move to China then? They don't allow protesters there; It would be the perfect place for you.

Seriously, since when have people in the US become so arrogant to belittle people who feels like they are ignored by the government. I'm guessing you also oppose all of the protests in the Arab Spring. Continue to believe in the way the government is handling things. They certainly know what's best for you, especially while corporations are putting money into their pockets at the same time.

The Occupy Boston protesters are racist against black people according to Occupy the Hood.

We do all realize that there is a difference between peaceable assembly and camping out, right?

One version of propaganda:

1. They are squatting like dogs, mooching food from area restaurants.
2. They were born with silver spoons in their mouths, from wealthy families.
3. Given a choice they would rather camp in Dewey Square than in the Grand Tetons.
4. They are anarchists.

The other version of propaganda:

1. They are protesting.
2. They are organized.
3. At night they sleep.
4. They sleep in tents.

You decide.

People like you are owned lock-stock-and barrel by the 1% - - you pay their exhorbitant fees, give them "business" tax deductions for "entertainment and dining expense" at sporting events, concerts etc.

Amazing that you've been trained like a little poodle to perform their favorite tricks when they order you to and to defend their right to further the raping of the middle class in this country.

As a 5-percenter, I'm actually appreciative of you're magnanimous gesture.

Thank you, Whighlander.

You realize that the 1% isn't primarily comprised of financial services people right? I guess you're going to swear off medical professionals and all sorts of specialists in solidarity with your fellow asshats.

-Lurker proud self made member of the 1%, BITCHES

Very VERY generalization and bias view of the "other version of propaganda." Let me make it more specific for you.

1. They are protesting because of what they see as wasteful government spending and wall street greed.
2. They come from all walks of life including older members who lost their 401k, students unable to find a job because of the recession even though they have a degree, and even 1 percenters who find the income inequality unacceptable.
3. They camp out to show that this protest is legitimate, not one where people just protest some of the time and that's it. Most people that scoffed at the protest stated that the protesters would leave as soon as it gets cold. The protesters are proving them wrong.
4. Most of the protesters are demanding change. Only a minority want Anarchy and most of them will quickly change their mind if anarchy existed.

Let face it, this is about the only interesting thing going on concerning the Greenway.

Well the bike lanes connecting North and South Station with spokes through downtown are quite a nice development. But yes, it is sad that the biggest news and development concerning "a world class 'greenway'" in the heart of the city is a bunch of cranky political people camping out.
