I would say it turns the room in to a porch, rather than a balcony, but this is precisely the reason that I like them. Much like oversized windows for street level restaurants and bars, it brings an airy, spacious feel to a room even though it is actually inside.But if you open the doors wide, the narrow balcony acts as a rail for the rest of the room, creating a great big balcony, if you will.
