Traffic Disaster Looming in BOSTON

Well, something needs to be done! (As long as no TAXPAYERS money is spent doing it.)

I never said that.
Spending taxpayers money should be focused on infrastructure instead of developments.

Instead of giving all these tax incentives to developments and corporations why not focus on infrastructure.

I think at this point you need to be flexible in the developments like Height to offset the tax incentives.

Not sure why they gave GE that sweetheart deal. GE was moving into Boston no matter what.
The problem with the entire system is their is just too much looting going on to trust anybody.

IF I HAD ONE WISH: I WOULD WISH FOR NO TRAFFIC
THIS WOULD BE A STRESS RELIEVER FOR EVERYBODY

Remember. You are not IN traffic, you ARE traffic.

Partners Health is probably a better case study:4500 office employees on a 9am to 5pm rush of which ~4000 will likely drive is a much bigger load on rush hour than a casino (whose workers commute for 7am, 3pm and 11pm come/go times and whose customers have 10am and 7pm arrival focus)

Ugh, if only metro-Boston had some sort of dense transportation system that could move people en masse around the area that we could beef up/modernize to handle the growing population...

This every time!

Solutions:
100Billion dollar Investment in the MBTA: After and AUDIT and cleansing of current management.
Focus on the MBTA GRID:
EXPAND HARDRAILS (As much as Possible)
Make CARS BIGGER
Make Cheaper and energy self-sufficients
Runs on both Electric/Solar

Developments:
Any developments located on Hardrails: MAXIMIZE the Height.

These would be key at this point for sometype of relief.
Just a couple of key ideas. This would be a good start.

The group concludes that the Greater Boston Area needs to find ways to expand and improve the region's infrastructure in order to keep up with the growing population.

The biggest question left by the report is who will pay for the improvements, and how.

That's some A+ study stuff right there...

No s#%t, Sherlock. Have you seen what's been happening on 93 or even by Alewife lately? Commute times are way up for me, presumably because more & more people are rat running through the clusterf@#k that is Belmont center.

Can someone explain to me why Montreal can have a nice - REAL - Metro system on an island and we can't? How much of it is determined by ocean/river/rock/corruption?

Don't forget that we also have the F-35 and the war on drugs ... and they don't.

Comments like this are refreshing with all of the emphasis on TAXPAYERS and whether or not the proposed new glass tower is 637 or actually 642(!) feet tall (including mechanicals, of course).

Being from around he NY metro area this stuff never ceases to crack me up. The traffic last month when that garbage truck caught in fire in the tunnel is what I'm used to every day.

I also have little sympathy; I just like traffic on Seaport Blvd doesn't need to exist because of access at B St, soooooo many backups I really are caused my massholes outright refusing to merge. When two lanes drop to one drivers would rather put the other guy into a wall than just loose one car length. This is then further compounded by I'll timed traffic lights.

The United States spends its money on military instead. The United States spends $597.5b/year ($1859 per capita, 3.3% of GDP) on military expenditures, while Canada spends $14b/year ($399 per capita, 0.9% of GDP). That's $1460 per capita less that Canada spends on military

I know it isn't quite this simple, but could you imagine if we took $1460 per capita and diverted from military expenditure to infrastructure. Heck, in Massachusetts alone that would amount to $10b/year. Imagine the kinds of crazy transit pitches and SGR that could be achieved in MA with $10b more per year.

Not a political argument, just an accounting and crazy transit funding one.

Ask yourself this:

What is the most important thing in LIFE? TIME

The BIG DIG concept was worth it for Boston. If the looting did not go on and their was accountability then I would say the Taxpayers were justified for the 22 Billion dollar project.

TRUST is a very important factor that is getting deteriorating from our public leaders at this point in history.

Ask yourselves these two questions:
Did city & commonwealth really need to give tax incentives to these groups.
Liberty Mutual
Fan Pier
Milliuem Towers
JPM Morgan Seaport Tower
GE
Vertex

I understand their is Risk but if the tower proves profitable maybe they should give the money back or cancel the tax incentive if the risk is covered. Or just be more flexible with more Height and width.

Because this MONEY should be invested in Infrastructure.

I'm pretty sure I swiped it from someone here.
