Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Re: 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

I am still kind of surprised this turned into a fake twin towers approach now. Trans National's proposal was probably my least favorite, and looking back on it at least they were rather skinny vs what we are getting now with Millennium.

Re: 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

It only counts as 1 tower....

How do you get a too fat project built? At City Hall tongues are wagging; "hey Sam, which tower you like better? the East Tower or the West Tower?" There's only 1 Developer can get a new tallest built in the West End....

Gonna have to change with the times. Who am i to say it ain't 2 towers?

No one talks like that. Get ahold of yourself.

If Darth Vader was an architect I feel like all his proposals would have been TransNational Skyscraper building similar to the Mike Brady split level proposals.

Who says he wasn't? Somebody had to design the Death Star.

Darth Vader loved slot openings with rounded ends. It was his thing.

He probably made his first prototype model using his lightsaber, hence the rounded end slots.

Re: 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Devonshire Street closed. Two excavators and slurry wall rig on site today.

Re: 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

This morning's delivery. Large steel pipes. They look like those seen in other foundations.

Re: 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Did they get a building permit ?

Re: 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

How is any of this even possible - permits and approvals aside - the building can't be anywhere near the construction document phase in design?

Joe Montana would argue they probably don't use construction documents - just napkin sketches.

Re: 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

i thought this was going to happen.

Boston/Walsh/ BRA flexing its muscle!!

Great thing to see!!

Simple: they're still. only. in. the. garage. demolition. phase. of. the. project.

Everything you're seeing is still just the demolition--but think of how many subtle nuances there are to a garage demolition, in terms of ensuring the excavated site is in perfect 100% stabilized condition before the first ounce of concrete is poured: water, soil, retaining walls, destruction of all the garage footings/foundations/supports/what-have-you, beyond the demolition of the garage superstructure. It's a bit more than simply swinging a wrecking ball!

Re: 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Thanks Beeline!

"Hey, they're digging one really big hole down there!"

"Well, they're just removing the substructure of the old Garage, sir. When they remove the last bit of concrete...."

When is a project u/c though it isn't actually, officially u/c?

When the City says 'we have the authority to dig' or the wiki? :)
