love this guy...you know he's been working on this woody guthrie routine ever since the first drum circle protest convened in Dewey Square. He's like one of those Japanese soldiers they found on pacific islands, still fighting the second world war thirty years after it ended.

He's hanging in the wrong part of Boston

i suggest he hop on the Green Line at Copley -- making sure that he watches out for the shaddows cast by Big John and old John Hancock and that he avoids looking at the glare of the iluminated signs in the sky for the Lexox and of course the Pru.

He can then get off at Park St. -- take the stairs down to the Red Line platform and take the next train south to South Station

Then he can ascend to the surface at Dewey square and serande his compadres, er Comrads in the Occupyers Flea Party

At one point there were various assaults and robberies. I guess you could say it is no worse than the rest of the city if you wanted to.

There is a bus trip down to Boston at the city I work in Maine, for a day trip, and I noticed today on the flyer that the Copley Place tower is shown. I was the only one who noticed the flyer included a rendering...not sure where the graphic came from. Pretty funny. Looks great, though!

Comments on the video so far are epic and the 1/10 like/dislike ratio is phenomenal.

Phil's comment made me lol. Kent's is great too. The response the guy gave to Kent is whack! I don't think he understands what a winter garden is or the actual site plan.

I honestly don't see what his concern for shadows and "wind force" is.. based on his appearance it's obvious he hasn't stepped outside since 1972...

1/18 now. ;-)

I like the way opponents are worried about this becomong another Filene's fiasco. That happens as often as a resident from tent city shoots up Copley Place.

Don't know if this is what he actually said but it's on Twitter so it must be true.

Every day I think, there can't possibly be a new one for my head to explode. Once again, I was proven wrong:

@zackboston Byron Rushing advocating for 25% new Copley units be affordable housing in conjunction with neighborhood CDC & inclusive affordability mix.

If there's any part of the city where wind might be a legitimate issue, it's this one. I've been blown off the road, all the way to the curb, while biking westbound on St. James Avenue next to Trinity Church.

I've had similar problems between Stuart and St. James on Clarendon, as well as on St. James heading into the square. I can't find the information on this, but I've read previously that some of this would actually be mitigated by adding a few more towers. The problem is uninterrupted, high speed wind hitting the Hancock and then shooting straight down to street level. A few more towers would break up that wind a bit more, before it plunges downward.

I don't know if the above is true, like I said I can't find it at the moment, and it may well have just been some Internet loud mouth. But it makes sense to me. The other thing that makes sense, is that it is so bad now (as we've both experienced) that it probably couldn't get worse.

I've found the canyon affect really makes the wind bad, the example I usually use is the alley between 245 Summer and the USPS. 2 very straight walls in close proximity creates incredible wind in there.

The shape of the tower should help as it has no significant flat surfaces to block and redirect the wind, as well as setbacks, the biggest setback being the podium. Without being an expert, I would guess this tower would not significantly increase wind problems in the area. Whether it would mitigate any, I could not comment.

The tower was designed and redesigned to minimize wind issues. If they built a flat tower parallel to the Hancock, right at the street, then there would be a serious wind issue, but the tower is shaped like a blob and set back for a reason. In Elkus' latest renders, they even tweaked the orientation of the blobs to make even less impact. I feel really bad for the intern that they probably made tweak all 47 floors in Revit.

Heh. Had a project that the entire building had to move by 4 feet. It was the only time Revit has lived up to the hype. I didn't have to fix anything, it all moved with the model.

Of course in this instance, the tower rotates but the podium stays....

If someone had to change 40+ sheets of floor plans than they are drawing the set incorrectly.

Elements will lose connectivity at no fault of your own when moving things around in Revit, especially a curved curtain wall. Floors, walls, and ceilings will disassociate with each other, but that's beside the point and off-topic.

Usually just lurking in the shadows, but I'm one of the Revit Product Manager's at Autodesk. LOL It's nice to get some coverage, even though WAY off topic. Actually, I think rotating the tower would be fairly easy at this stage since they probably haven't put much detail on each floor.
