Thanks kz, how did you know?? :D Your pictures are already a major reason why this forum is as great as it is, I suppose I can be patient for the full Greenway tour!

Enjoy the lushness while it lasts; come each October it'll revert to barren median strip.

Yes, and so will the Boston Common. Oh, why did we EVER let them build that awful scar on the city!?

Million people using the greenway last night, including further down by the North End. From my experience, the area near Fanueil Hall is extremely successful, although there are certain areas that could use more activation. The guy in the fountain was pretty entertaining.

Biked the length of the greenway the other day. Heard some folks might be looking for a photo tour:

The busiest park, though there were people in every section. Too bad the vines never grew up this trellis:

I went to the Improv Asylum last night in the North End (hilarious shows, BTW) and when looking up the comedians from the show I came across this youtube short they all made featuring the Greenway as the star attraction:

Kind of unconventional, but I think it makes a great marketing video for the park.

^ Imagine SST in that shot. No one could argue that height there would work, indeed be helpful.

If One Financial Center were being built today, gobs of vitriol would drip down its side.

bring back occupy. It has been the only thing that activated that plaza.

Have you not gone there during lunch hour? There are lines that cross the entire plaza from most of the food trucks they have there, and the farmer's market is always packed.

I think he means the lawn in front of the ventilation shaft. Dewey Square itself is very successful and, I'd argue, is rapidly acquiring a cache and an identity for itself separate from the rest of the Greenway. Occupy, and also the mural, have helped - but the real sense of place comes from the very successful market and food truck concentration (which isn't just an office worker lunchtime show - it's still busy in the evening).

I think the lawn is slated to mostly go away when they finally build something around the ventilation shaft. That's much needed.

Also needed here is to close the southbound on/offramp . It really severely disrupts the flow of pedestrians from South Station, through the square, and into the Financial District. There's a similar offramp just a couple blocks back at Purchase/Oliver Streets which serves exactly the same purpose, and a southbound onramp just south of here past Lincoln Street! Imagine this vista without the ramp - I submit that this could be done tomorrow with very minimal traffic impact. http://goo.gl/maps/AQ5bN

It's also quite lively between 8am and 10am when folks headed to work are passing through and stopping for breakfast and/or coffee.

A square that's only populated during office-drone lunch hour is not healthy.

that pic was taken around 1030am otherwise it would have been a very busy scene
