I'll let lynqueezy post the photo of the construction fence again. Since construction has begun, it seems reasonable to spin this one off into a separate thread.

Lol, good catch. 15' is absurd. This probably has a 9' to 10' FTF. The zoning was requested at 285'.

These two buildings will be quite the addition to the area. They really will improve it for the better.

I googled it in a rush. I'm not a developer. I fixed the post. No need for the "nuts" and "absurd," guys.

Incidentally, Cambridge Seven has killed their promo site for this project, even though it still comes up in Google searches (and gives you non-functional links). I was hoping for some more detail or updates, but no luck.

The sign says 27 stories. There must have been some changes since that presentation.
 
Note in the image above the PDA Approval was for 25 stories (251') and the building was slightly increased in height when it came back. 27 is consistent with 285'.
 
I also just noted that these projects eliminate the small parking lot at the end of St. Germain Street (not the public lot that this project replaces, but the private lot for St. Germain residents), and creates a park there (per the plans).
 
I'm pretty sure not building it was how extra height was allowed. But I hope they repropose it under Walsh who thinks very differently about height.

Not to get too off topic, but do we know of any plans to redevelop the motel across the street? I remember hearing that the Church owned it awhile back and wasn't sure if there were any proposals for that land. It's such a waste of space as is. I wouldn't be surprised if anything built on the motel parcel ends up being about the height of the buildings on each side of it, so 12-15 floors, thanks to residents of the South End, but that parcel has the potential to go much higher.

I haven't heard of any plans recently, but that site (The Midtown Hotel) is immediately adjacent to the the St Botolph Street Architectural Conservation District. Getting anything tall there will be a challenge, which is probably why the hotel has remained for so long.

There has been a long term commitment to not go higher on the site. It has been close to development several times in the past few decades, it just always misses the real estate cycle.
 
Thanks you guys, good to know. Even if we ended up with 5-6 stories and an active retail streetwall that would be a huge improvement.
