Anyone else think the precast looks like remnants of the terracotta army lol

Bleh. I find Tatte to be pretty mediocre. Huge quality decline after they got acquired by Panera.

This is a pretty hot take given that they haven't really done anything different at their locations - they still make the pastries and food on-site, still serve Stumptown... what specifically has changed in your mind? The one in my neighborhood is always packed to the gills.

Interesting news about the gas station.

So, Star owns the lot on which it is located, and the parking lot perpendicular to it (you all might already know this). The gas station is owned by Elias Enterprise.

It looks as though a separate entity owned the liquor store located next to (within?) Star Market, on this site, as well at another couple locations. Star bought them out in the mid-1990s. (If memory serves ...)

Regarding the remediation, I don't know anything about that sort of thing but I remember reading about the lot near the Forecaster building next to the Government Center garage that used to be a gas station. When it was sold, the deed was explicit that no residential could be built on the site for a long period of time. (I think it was Exxon that owned it, or was it Sunoco?). The idea was, I guess, that the oil company didn't want anyone to end up suing them years down the line if anyone got sick.

Makes sense. Consider Love Canal, where Hooker Chemicals told the city that the land they were selling to them was a toxic waste dump, and should only be used as a park, and not to build anything on the site... and nobody really blames the city for building a school there, just Hooker.

You gotta stay in complete CYA mode whenever selling land.

Found this picture of tower verre and it reminded me...why the hell don't we put glass on our blank walls. The building next to this is pretty anonymous, but the 45 province blank wall facing directly towards the common is a huge failure. There needs to be an ordinance or something that makes this mandatory in highly visible areas.

Closing as in no longer doing business, not "closing" as in an official sale...though I believe we'll all hear about that soon enough

I can confirm the gas station is closing. Almost all the product has been sold and everything left is highly discounted. Most of the pumps have bags over them as well. Asked the cashier what was going in and he responded something to the effect of "more of this" pointing at the Pierce. That all said, manager at Dunkin' Donuts said they'll be staying put for at least two years.

been awhile since I have been in that gas station so perhaps I am mistaken but I thought the Dunkin' is inside the gas station. If so, they are closing the gas station and are going to leave the Dunkin' counter open for at least 2 years?

Yeah it is definitely inside the gas station and there is no drive-thru or anything.

I was surprised to hear dunks was remaining open too, but could be related to the time needed for gas station remediation. Was in there today and everything related to the gas station is pretty much gone and gas is no longer being sold. Dunks was operating as usual. Maybe they'll add seating temporarily.

For what it's worth, the new word is that they won't be staying put for two years...they will be out next week. I assume their deal with new owner of property fell through. Doesn't mean work at the property will begin any sooner, but thought I would share the latest.

Can you give us a hint on the price? My buddy who lives and owns a few buildings on Peterborough Street said he heard $20M

Re: Skanska Fenway Project (Burger King) | 1350 Boylston Street | Fenway

Scratch that I guess it was $17M, closed yesterday.

Indeed, Star Market bought the gas station property (1420 Boylston St) from Elias Enterprises for $16,925,000, closing yesterday. You can see the details here - search for "Elias" and sort by date.

Star Market now owns the "gas station parcel" as well as the parking lots south and east of it, plus their building. I've been confused by the timeline here -- why shut down the Gulf and Dunkin when any future development is still years away -- but I think it all makes a bit more sense if Star Market itself is the developer, not a third party.

Even though no plans have been made public, would it make sense to move all of this 1420 Boylston St talk off into its own thread (maybe Star Market (former Gulf) parcel | 1420 Boylston Street | Fenway)? It's been clogging up this "Skanska Fenway Project" thread for weeks now... Mods, any opinions?

Re: Skanska Fenway Project (Burger King) | 1350 Boylston Street | Fenway

It should have never been in this thread. We have a Fenway Area thread for other projects.

If we do that, the address should be 1380-1420 Boylston? A development would likely include both parcels.

A development would include the Star Market "south lot" (the one at the corner of Park Dr and Peterborough) but likely not the one on Boylston. This is atleast what the rumors are saying, and it makes sense. There's an alley separating the Gulf site and the Star Market lot on Boylston.

The store and parking lot on Boylston would then go later in a second phase.
