Marriott Moxy Hotel | 240 Tremont Street (Parcel P-7A) | Theater District

My first job was at the Gary Theater, 133 Stuart Street. The site is now part of the Transportation building. I worked there for three years starting in 1968. It was a funky neighborhood back then and still has a bit of funk left despite all the new construction.

A little bit, though apparently Emerson would be fine eradicating what's left, if market forces don't do it first.

FYI, and I should probably post this on the retail thread, but the Intermission Tavern closed as of Sunday. No word yet on when the new restaurant that's replacing it will open.

Finally something tall and sexy on this spot. Been waiting for almost 50 years to fill it.

Its not tall ... it just has a slim proportion.

cca

Sexy as __kk. Looking forward to this + several more high a/r highrises in the general area between Chinatown and the Motor Mart Garage.

It's hard not to admit the evolution of our iconic, dense core from ~1982 to ~2022 is quite breathtaking. This area is pretty cool.

Stuart street is turning into our first high rise corridor with buildings running the entire length on both sides of the street.

45 Stuart st I read is 29/30 stories and 310’, W hotel is 276’ 26 stories, and this is 23/24 stories and 275’. Does anyone know the exact floors/heights on these. Gonna make a nice little cluster. The render makes it look taller than 45 stuart but I guess not.

no.

Pretty sure Marriott Moxy tower will be 273' and feature very short floor to floor heights.

AVA is ~310-313'.

Whats going to be used to cover the concrete core on the back of the structure. This is pretty clear glass so Im not sure if glass over the core will work unless it has a backing on it. I hope they find a way to use glass.

This glass is looking very good. Doesnt look like any other glass we have in the city. I like this. Having a clear glass tower will be a cool addition to the skyline we havent seen this.

Maybe now this crew can head over to Gov Center garage and give them a hand.

(I know! I know!)

Im very interested in this facade. Its a tinted clear glass and the structure is going to be fully glass wrapped besides a couple trim pieces at top and bottom. I think this is going to look really cool along with its proportions. I cant think of another lightly tinted clear glass tower in the city, especially at any substantial height. Im pretty sure everything is reflective. These towers always have a cool look to them where you can see much more of the structure.

Its still reflective in strong sun, but some pictures definitely make it look very clear. I hope it comes out as clear as it looks because its another fairly unique way to use glass. Efficiency standards will mean its probably going to just look like normal reflective silver glass in sun, but when not in direct sun some of those pictures above look unique to anything in the city yet.

The back is entirely opaque Alucobond. Actually should look pretty good. Should have a similar aesthetic to the MassArt TreeHouse, just duller:
