East Boston Infill and Small Developments

great view of the neighborhood on approach to runway 22 L this morning.
 
Stylish, even chic. The architects took the same materials used in most new construction, threw in their creative alchemy and came up with something commendable. The row houses are especially nice.
 
Not a whole lot of retail in the new buildings, but at least theres a market.

“Developer Joseph Nogueira of Woburn has filed plans with the BPDA to replace a one-story building housing the Maverick Street Market and the Swish & Swash Laundromat on Maverick Street across from Frankfort Street with a five-story building with 55 residential units - and room for the market and the laundromat to move back into.

I recall that the intent was a community center focused on youth and adult vocational training, language classes, and other services, but that goes back a couple of years. Repurposing the building is made more complex and costly by ADA requirements. I'll be at a neighborhood meeting and will ask a friend who lives on Eagle Hill if he can clarify what's actually happening now and what organization is the primary source of funding.
