I asked someone on the design team about these - these are older renderings from an old leasing deck distributed to brokers i the early days of this project, not newer ones. This person said the newer, more textured facade design, is still current.
Eq - Actually I think the document says the arts center goes to Block L5 at the corner of Boston Wharf Road and Congress Street - probably a better place than up on Summer Street.

I rarely post here but would only ask that before you cast aspersions on these pieces that you take the time to learn more about them. They're not plastic, and they are the original work of a very well-known Spanish sculptor and street...
For all of you who want this to be taller...I think this building maxes out the Shadow on the Common law, which is a state law, not zoning....call your legislator....
I bet the stubbiness/height limit is a function of the shadow on the boston common legislation, which is a state law that's not that old...even if they wanted it to be taller it couldn't be.
Re: The Boston Arch (Aquarium parking garage)
Sicilian, you write:
"Boston could have codified a framework for waterfront development in a Municipal Harbor Plan 10 years ago, before Chiofaro arrived on the scene."
Ahem. They did...it's called the Downtown Boston Waterfront Municipal Harbor...
Re: The Boston Arch (Aquarium parking garage)
Hey Rifleman (and anyone else mistakenly under the impression that the Garage site was to be the site of the 3rd Harbor Tower): you're wrong. The 3rd Harbor Tower was to be located on what is now Rowes Wharf...before the BRA came to their senses and...
Richard Ross, of the Ross family and a major civic presence in Boston, was the owner of the existing building on Boylston Street housing the Subway and the post office, which will eventually be torn down as part of the redevelopment. He was killed on 9/11.
Re: New hotel tower Trinity Place near Copley Sq.
"The economics don't work usually for hotels," because they cost so much to build in Boston, Warshaw said after the meeting. "The profits from the condos will serve to lower the leverage on the hotel."
Uhhhhh....so why not just build more...
^^Seamus, the city isn't paying to have the innovation thing built - they're leasing it from John Hynes for $1.00 a year and not putting in any capital dollars. I think it's costing Seaport Square about $6 million. No public money involved.
^Riff, which of the mayor's friends bought land in the Innovation District and are now getting a tax break? State Street - developer is from Providence. JP Morgan? Vertex from Cambridge? (and no - Fallon didn't get the TIF, Vertex did).
You should blame Vornado for the hole in DTX...they owned...
^^I don't think Riff makes it out of Belmont much so leave the poor guy alone. It's too bad he has a thing against John Hynes - after all, it was VNO who pulled the plug, and John is building the new park and innovation thing at Seaport Square, which can't be cheap, especially before he's...
Re: The Boston Arch (Aquarium parking garage)
Kent, you asked:
"One Lincoln was a huge new office building in Chinatown and it took around two decades from initial proposal to completion...how do you explain that?"
Sorry pal, you really set yourself up for this one....because guess who was...
